Before this day ends!
Have spent a day and a half on something that will save me around 2 hours every month. Worth it. xkcd.com/1205/
In this episode of the Under Review podcast, I talk to @andytattersall.bsky.social about research fraud detection, papermills, and that rat.

Beautiful ☀️y day, finally.
Fortunately, there's a resource to improve benchmarking of multiphoton systems. So things can get better. Here's the paper www.nature.com/articles/s41... And here's the free PMC version PDF (pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...) (3/3)
Comparing multiphoton (2p/3p) imaging systems is often done poorly. labrigger.com/blog/2026/01... E.g., PSFs can be measured differently by different labs, staining quality is by far the biggest determinate on how multiphoton images will look at depth, and so forth. (1/3)
Spectacular views today!
We spend way too much time manually analyzing #microtubules 🔬
Together with Mario, Justus, Dominik, Felix & Erik we used synthetic data and foundation models to build a fully automated segmentation pipeline.

Building blocks! 🙂
The images shows an array of 6 Expansion microscopy images of cell nuclei (three columns and 2 rows). each image was taken with a different SPY-DNA probe to stain the nuclear DNA and is pseudocolored to the fluorescence wavelength of the SPY-DNA probe. Trom top left to bottom right: SPY505-DNA (green); SPY555-DNA (magenta); SPY595-DNA (yellow); SPY620-DNA (orange); SPY650-DNA (red); SPY700-DNA (darker red). a white scale bar of 50 micrometers is given for each image to get an impression of the scale of each nuclei.
Are you staining DNA in your ExM samples?
We have awesome news for you! All our 6 SPY-DNA probes work beautifully well with the U-ExM protocol.
You can now tune the color of the DNA channel to your needs, according to the fluorophores on your preferred antibodies.

Believe me when I say that I'm overlooking Barcelona. 🙂
The compulsory Christmas day ride! ✅ 🙂🎄🌟
Wuhuuu, preprints using the #RxivMaker engine are popping 🍾
Our annual PhD call is closing at the end of this week on 30 November. If you're interested in carrying out world-class scientific research in Barcelona, you still have a few days left to submit your application! www.crg.eu/en/content/t...
We just released a new major version of TrackMate (v8), the cell and organelle tracking plugin of Fiji.
It ships many new features, detailed below, but that are articulated around the following:
My two favorite CUBEs 🙂
In science a misconduct is a misconduct, whether accidental or deliberate. Ignorance is not an excuse.
The FPbase spectra viewer just had it's biggest software refactor in 6 years. It *should* be largely invisible to the end user (hopefully just faster and less buggy). Please let me know if you find any issues as you use it!

I have two open positions @ALMU @crg.eu:
1. Imaging Scientist (permanent position. Deadline 11th Nov.) recruitment.crg.eu/content/jobs...
2. Entry-Level Imaging Scientist (12 months fixed-term position. Deadline 18th Nov.) recruitment.crg.eu/content/jobs...
Reposts appreciated.
