Most interactions I see re: AI accelerationism online are rooted in either: the pro-AI person is operating from a place of fear ("if I don't do this and the snake oil salesman is right, I will lose everything") or a place of greed ("if I can con more people into doing this I will be rich.")

Award-winning Turntables made in England by Rega since 1973. View Rega’s range of award-winning turntables.

I ended up with a Rega Planar 2 but recommend the P1 for a good enthusiast first turntable, upgradable components but simple and low fuss setup, and doesn’t look like a toy. www.rega.co.uk/products/tur...

You are going to end up on the slippery slope towards fully analog signal chains, Rob. I am speaking from experience.

Every year (maybe every quarter) there is a story that forces non-marketing and social media people to reckon with the forces that control the cultural conversations and this is the story du jour apparently. This is the way it has worked for 10+ years.

Don't they know you can just post on Bluesky and people will find every typo and error for free?

Payola by any other name wouldn't smell as sweet. The only metric that matters is ROI. If the labels "feel" like its working, then it is. Geese is the worst test case because the album is good and was a critical darling. They put on a good live show. The streams are secondary.

The thing I have been turning over in my head for months is that to get ahead in whatever it is you do, you have to self promote, and to self promote well you have to figure out content creation and The Algorithm.

Every job is content creation/every industry is marketing now (but for a band to "make it big" the music still has to be good.)

Yeah I currently have a set of old Advent speakers that don't fit them, but at least on the receiver end (where at least in my set up, more likely to be messing with cables or have people standing closer to) felt safer about having that extra step between.

Your Flag Decal Won't Get You into Heaven Anymore
Your Flag Decal Won't Get You into Heaven Anymore YouTube video by John Prine - Topic

But your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.
They're already overcrowded
From your dirty little war.
Now Jesus don't like killin'
No matter what the reason's for,
And your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.
