Most prominent terfs have reached the Glinner stage of radicalisation, where simply having all their demands met is no longer sufficient. Instead, they're chasing a fantastical victory, where everyone acknowledges just how right they were, and former friends beg them for forgiveness.

the boomerest of myths. ‘you’ll be shocked and offended at uni!’ no they won’t? who’s out there doing that? Is Robin Williams going to come and make them stand on tables?

they’re going to Strathclyde to do sports science and they’ve been on the internet since birth

they’re not in a coach, rattling towards Oxford wearing their first grown-up periwig

not this stupid trope again. Why should they expect to be offended? What stunning new ideas are going to be discussed at uni that they’ve never encountered before? It’s not 1725

Platforming right-wing figures? Like having a huge ad from a transphobic org on your front cover, maybe? Pots and kettles

Ive wondered what would finally break me, make me give up hope, but seeing a newspaper I subscribe to casually allow a fascist advert, complete with gloating, dog whistle slogan on its front page is pretty close
The right-wing just bought you & undid all you've ever said on diversity & human rights

@lauraewebster.bsky.social I wonder if you noticed this comment on The National’s post which shared the cover image, complete with massive transphobic banner? Pretty devastating.

As before, it would be nice to hear from @lauraewebster.bsky.social on her reasons for choosing to go with that ad. Because that was a choice, and it makes a very strong, very definite statement about The National’s Direction.

It was a general sales number for Newsquest. Person I spoke to was polite and said cancelling was understandable and that they would pass the feedback on. Also: said others had called on same issue.

An update: I called The National to cancel my subscription today and told them it was because they ran a front-page transphobic ad.

I don't understand why so many people, let alone leftists, have chosen freely using the r-slur as their hill to die on. Is it your emotional support slur? What are we doing here?

I’ve had the same editor since 1967. Many times he has said to me over the years or asked me, Why would you use a semicolon instead of a colon? And many times over the years I have said to him things like: I will never speak to you again. Forever. Goodbye. That is it. Thank you very much. And I leave. Then I read the piece and I think of his suggestions. I send him a telegram that says, OK, so you’re right. So what? Don’t ever mention this to me again. If you do, I will never speak to you again

Was going through old chats and found this incredible quote from a pizza guy who saved someone's life with CPR

Love to read about the meandering and messy and incredibly complex female brain, because women see things more ‘holistically’, apparently? That’ll be because we’re a separate species probably

Haven’t there been a few cases as well where a tech org was like ‘woo look at our robot’ and it was like, being operated by low-paid workers? People have low trust, I think.

it’s not so much about that specific robot and what it can do but about tech companies in general. They’re always punting these humanoid robots and it just feels extremely sinister. They want them to be slaves or weapons.
