I’m so out of touch I didn’t even know that was “THE” Ariana Grande until after the movie, was impressed by both her singing, acting and comic timing though.

Ironically I think the guy in the photo was making the point that for the good of the Tory party she should be less active on social media and didn’t need to reactively respond to every point of view expressed by others.

But then how do you get everyone to stop obeying the person in power at the same time.

You’ll need someone to organise that and convince them all it’s a good idea. Someone with charisma. You know, a real leader of men for them to get behind…

I’d say once the authoritarian has got power anyway the idea here is to publicly look like you’re offering outright obedience and doing what they’d want in advance.

If you “look” obedient and supportive they’ll focus less on you and you have more private freedom to do what you want.

Not sure why it’s an issue. At a guess I’d say that when people hear “you didn’t read it, you listened to it” they make the assumption that the person making the statement is implying that listening is somehow a lesser activity or doesn’t really count.

It’s one of those situations where new technology either requires a new word or an agreed change to the meaning of an old one.

Feels wrong to say you’ve “read” a book when you’ve listened to it but there’s no other collective word to say you’ve consumed it through either method, so “read” is used.

Interesting to think at the start of A New Hope there are only 3 current or former members of the old Jedi remaining and Luke was the catalyst for all 3 of their deaths by the end of the trilogy.

Quite frankly I don’t trust the character of any person who didn’t make a joke at that point.

My approach to any new hardware or software can be summed up as “I wonder what would happen if I press this?”

I had spent most of the 2nd half watching Marcelino warming up thinking he’d allow us to win back control of the game. So I’d say there did look to be a way for us to prevail.

One of those 26 goals was the winner in a Champions League final though. So they couldn’t have been too bad a team.

Yeah, it humanises Scrooge, makes you understand why he’s become the way he is and the length of the scene shows how much space it still holds in his own memory.
