First, because bigots should be shunned always, and our shunning emboldens others to shun; and second, because queer people who are not out (but are there, and listening), especially kids, need to know you have their backs for real.

Watching those clips of Cambridge students “debate” Charlie Kirk and wondering how a community college dropout became an expert on universities.

It's long past time to ban insider trading in Congress.

You could be right. But I thought I read that folks would need to bring other documents if their name didn’t match their birth certificate.

Exactly. Me too!!

And I had to show my birth certificate and marriage license to get the real ID

I don’t get why Real ID won’t be accepted. Real ID is the equivalent of a US passport according to TSA.

It's not discussed in all the stories. But a key feature of the revocation of student visas is that there's no notification. This has forced universities to do regular online reviews of current visas to see which have disappeared since the previous query. The lack of notification is by design.

Thurmond was the same age as Booker when he set the record Senator Cory Booker just broke.

Thurmond was afforded a bathroom break and read from the encyclopedia. Booker held the floor the entire time and delivered a consistent, cogent speech for more than 24 hours.

Incredible.

Stadiums as Public Investments | Econofact Local governments have spent hundreds of millions of dollars in public subsidies for professional sports facilities over the past 70 years. What explains this?

The “benefit” to the city is a different issue. Municipalities almost always lose out on these “good” deals. econofact.org/stadiums-as-...

Didn’t say it was a private sale. But it’s textbook definition of privatization of a public space.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

I didn’t say anything about selling the land. It’s about whether the public can use the space or will be excluded by private interests.

Huh?

The city leasing the land to a private enterprise to use for private for-profit professional sports is pretty much the definition of privatization of a public space.

Was surprised to see Boston’s Mayor Wu on this list of Mayors for Parks considering her support of the privatization of White Stadium in Franklin Park. But then I read the statement of purpose and the first 2 paragraphs focus on property values and private capital.

I'm still very angry that @chrismurphyct.bsky.social and @blumenthal.senate.gov voted for Rubio as SoS. But at least Murphy has admitted that it was a mistake.

Not clearing snow after a storm is a barrier to mobility for the disabled and seniors. Do better Hartford. #GuideDog
