... They gave X turns to reach the end, depending on difficulty of heist. If they get there within the limit they succeed, if they don't they roll on a failure consequences table with the number of snakes hit during the heist modifying the result to make it worse.
Heist game, players start with a collective blank board and place their own snakes and ladders during the "planning" phase. Players then take it in turns to roll the dice, with individual abilities allowing them to switch out which dice or fudge the result a little...
