Fortunately both friends are *very* strong strategic thinkers, and one of them is aiming to help people who are in a position she sometimes finds herself in vis a vis shyness. I'm basically the face 😅

A lot of our effort will go towards defining those audiences and understanding how to reach them!

Basically we don't want to turn it into a "these directors can take their pick of this group of writers/artists/techs" kind of situation.

Ooh, that's actually something I'll take back to the group - we do have some ideas on connecting supply/demand audiences BUT the big challenge we're facing is not positioning it as like a power/seniority thing, yknow? Like, creators should be on the same level as commissioners in our events.

Yeah, we're focusing on trying to make meaningful connections between creatives who maybe struggle in social situations, making it more of a low-stakes social thing with a shared activity seeeeeems to be the way to go to generate natural links and conversation, but we'll see!

Interestingly, this is something my friends and I have come up against as we plan networking events for creative folks - it turns out that the majority of people who turn up to events that are branded as "Networking" are folks looking for other people to do work for them.

I don’t “network,” I make friends. Other artists are not my competition, they’re my beloved peers and sources of inspiration. We all have the same goal; to share our art. I’m not gonna corporatize my human relationships with them. I am in my sandbox playing and I hope they join me.
