Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.
This I find interesting. Taiwan is big on wind power too, along with South Korea, and Japan; the rest of APAC including Australia and NZ are just "investigating". dbrs.morningstar.com/research/479...

Westmere is booming (in a nice way) and the walkable / cycle-able nature of it is a huge part of this. While it’s an affluent part of the city it’s also a good example of where planning has made things better.
A nice story about a local "village" that's much more walkable (and more easily and safely accessible by bike from neighbouring burbs) thanks to some recent street upgrades.*

A HUGE, narrative-breaking moment for the UK car market
New EVs are now cheaper than petrol cars on average, says Autotrader
Last yr CCC said price parity was due by 2028 – and it's already here
And EVs are already MUCH cheaper to run than petrol

Really?
NZ can have its Declaration of Independence.
Here’s the network map evidence shows we need to complete to make riding a viable for more people in AKL. Much of this doesn’t exist yet, delayed by misinformation and political opportunism. Can be done cheaply and quickly, if we choose to, for the same cost as a short section of mega-motorway:

With fuel costs rising, Auckland’s cycleways are busier than ever. How we ride determines whether first timers feel empowered to keep going.

Perhaps senior NZG folks should also visit China to set up deals to buy, and prioritise delivery of, $billions in solar panels and batteries..
Trump comparing himself to Jesus while Vance tries to lecture the actual Pope on matters theological proves beyond any reasonable doubt that the ‘Christian’ element of their support is, morally & doctrinally, about as Christian as a hula hoop. Their conduct is literally unconscionable.

I applaud reducing digital harm to our kids - but a) it doesn’t work based on Australian outcomes; and b) handing over digital identification to the tech platforms creates far more danger for users.

It also makes no sense as it’s just a consumer funded underwrite for commercial gas users…
Great move - for NZ tourism! US tourism was down 6% in 2025, with this trend getting worse in 2026. People don’t go where they’re not welcome.
95% of cyclist deaths are caused by a collision with a motor vehicle.
Bike helmets are not designed to protect against a collision with a motor vehicle.
They're designed to protect against a 25km/h collision straight down with the ground, something that has never happened in real life.
