Bodies found in water not yet identified by Mary Perkins A Toluca Lake fisherman received a shock recently when he discovered a car sitting beneath the water. Homer Washington of Pearl Creek and his son Allan were heading out in his boat the Bright Lady to handline near the South Shore on September 25 when he saw something white in the water that he at first thought was a crate. The lake was calm and soon he saw a window and then a head and a shape in the backseat and realized they were bodies. Washington called Silent Hill Police, since he thought that they would have jurisdiction. It was determined, however, that the vehicle was lodged too deep and authorities had to request assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard to remove it from that area. Washington was 1 1/2 miles north of Rosewater Park off Nathan Avenue. Washington was shocked by the discovery of the bodies, which appeared decomposed. "I didn't dare go near it, since I was afraid of hwat else I might find. My son said he saw something else in the water." Green stood by about four hours until a 47-foot vessel from the U.S. Coast Guard station at Jonesport arrived to help remove the vehicle. According to Dr. Kaufmann of Alchemilla Hospital, where the autopsy is underway, no identification has yet been made of the bodies, which were both badly decomposed. They appear to be a white male and female, aged 25 to 35. The male appears to have drowned. No cause of death has yet been determined for the female. The hospital plans to turn the body over to the coroner's office in Brahms, where they hope to determine the couple's identity.
