I look forward to further advancing our bilateral defence and security cooperation. Below is an article by Sarah Ison published in today’s print edition of The Australian.

The character of warfare is evolving rapidly. Ukraine has demonstrated how drones, low-cost technologies, and fast innovation cycles can reshape the battlefield. It is no longer only about advanced platforms, but about scalable and adaptable capabilities.
There are numerous references to Russia’s war against Ukraine in Australia’s recently announced National Defence Strategy.
At least 17 people killed in Russia’s deadliest attack on Ukraine this year

Only decisive joint action can stop this terror. Ukraine needs strong and timely decisions from its partners, more air defense systems, and sustained, firm pressure on the aggressor.
Russia is deliberately terrorizing civilians—to exhaust them and spread fear. This is the only thing the aggressor can do, having no success on the battlefield.
Russia deliberately targeted residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. In Kyiv, 4 people were killed as a result of the shelling, including a 12-year-old child. In Odesa, a Russian strike claimed the lives of 8 people. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, 3 people were killed.
Overnight Russia has once again launched a massive strike on Ukrainian cities using missiles and drones. Kyiv, Odesa, and the Dnipropetrovsk region were under attack.

journey to Ukraine forms the heart of the story. It is in Ukraine that NASAMS has proven its exceptional effectiveness in intercepting Russian cruise and ballistic missiles—saving countless lives and protecting critical infrastructure.
The film was created by my friend Michael Fardell’s company Screencraft. He travelled to multiple locations where NASAMS is deployed. His
NASAMS is an innovative air defence system developed by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, using advanced missiles produced by the U.S. company Raytheon Technologies.
Recently, I had the pleasure of joining my Norwegian colleague Erik Svedahl, former Ambassador to Ukraine, for a screening of a compelling documentary on NASAMS.
It offers timely lessons for today, when disinformation is once again being weaponised.
A compelling and highly relevant read for anyone interested in Ukraine, global security, and the future of democracy.
I highly recommend How to Win an Information War by Peter Pomerantsev.
This powerful book explores the battle for truth in the age of propaganda, drawing on the remarkable story of how narratives were challenged and reshaped during WWII.

Proud of our incredible multinational Team Ukraine for crossing the finish line at the Canberra Half Marathon! 🇺🇦🇫🇮🇦🇹🇦🇺🏃♂️🏃♀️
Together, we’ve already raised $16,000 to support Ukraine’s urgent energy needs — a powerful contribution that will help keep homes warm and lights on.
Thanks
We’re running with purpose. Please support the Warmth for Ukraine campaign and help raise vital funds to keep homes warm and lights on across Ukraine. Every contribution matters.

Part of our team picked up our race bibs this morning — the energy is high and we’re ready for tomorrow’s half marathon.
Russia is losing the war. In 2025 alone, it suffered around 480,000 casualties in Ukraine while gaining just 0.7% more of Ukrainian territory — a stark illustration of strategic failure.
I look forward to working closely with Ambassador Bowan to further advance our bilateral relations.🇺🇦🇦🇺
Warm congratulations to Geoff Bowan on officially commencing his role as Australia’s Ambassador to Ukraine.
At a time when Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty and shared democratic values, Australia’s principled support remains deeply valued.
I am running the Canberra Times Half Marathon to raise funds for the Warmth for Ukraine to rebuild Ukraine’s energy systems and supply power generators. The campaign is powered by AFUO’s Future Ukraine. Please donate:

Grateful to Director Matt Anderson for personally guiding me through this powerful and timely exhibition. It is a meaningful reflection of Australia’s steadfast support for Ukraine.
I encourage everyone to visit and experience this important exhibition.
Honoured to attend an exhibition dedicated to Operation Kudu at the Australian War Memorial.
Operation Kudu is Australia’s contribution to the UK-led effort to train Ukrainian military personnel, equipping them with vital skills to defend Ukraine against Russia’s aggression.
May this special time bring peace, renewal, and hope to your homes and communities. Easter is a moment to cherish with loved ones, reflect on shared values, and look ahead with optimism.
Wishing you all a joyful and blessed Easter! Христос Воскрес!
Warmest Easter wishes to the people of Australia and New Zealand and all those celebrating today.
Ukraine must prevail to restore global security and stability.
Many thanks for standing strong with us 🇺🇦🇦🇺🇳🇿💪
