@theonion.com has finally (FINALLY) gotten InfoWars, and there was much rejoicing through the land.

One of the Sandy Hook families lives in hiding 1500 mi away from their baby’s grave due to people stalking them.
The graves of multiple children have been defaced.
One of the fathers had to submit DNA evidence to prove his son was a REAL HUMAN BEING after Alex Jones’ book said he never existed.
Hey everybody! I am taking the helm of this classic American institution with @theonion.com and want to know what you fine folks would like to see from us.
The way Juan's eyes lit up when they saw this was maybe one of the highlights of our Orlando trip
Delighted to share that my first attempt at color correcting a faded and fragile print from the library's collection is now online for viewing! Far from perfect, but I'm just happy to have been able to help get Rob Williams' The Matter With Me out there in a better quality than previously available.
At least I got to make a joke about the show's non-joke about P-town?
I cannot stress enough how disappointing it is to not recommend a show in which Whoopi Goldberg plays an alley cat who has an OnlyFans. But also, for those very same reasons, I cannot recommend it.
Don't be fooled by the pedigree: Prime Video's adult animated sitcom KEVIN is a messy, unfunny pile of millennial malaise with a way-overqualified voice cast (Amy Sedaris? JOHN WATERS?!?!) and creaky jokes about cat buttholes.

While I'm down here in Florida judging docs for FFF, Chicago's gearing up for its own documentary film festival. For @blockclubchi.bsky.social I broke down this year's Doc10 Fest, how it adjusted in the wake of Trump budget cuts, and some faves to look for:

Also, because I've been mainlining docs in Orlando all week, I haven't had the chance yet to share a piece I'm really excited about:
I got to interview JURY DUTY: COMPANY RETREAT "hero" Anthony Gladden about his experience, and he was a delight.

Fatih Akin's delicate WWII coming-of-age story AMRUM may have the brief of "What if Terrence Malick directed JOJO RABBIT?" But it's a lot more delicate than that, even as its airlessness sometimes hobbles its tale of innocence lost.

Assistant Editor @clintworthing.bsky.social spoke with JURY DUTY: COMPANY RETREAT star Anthony Norman about the ins and outs of his surreal experience, whether he ever suspected anything was up for the reunion episode, and how he responds to people calling his everyman integrity heroic:
Ope, juror badge secured - look out Orlando, I'm inside you
It's gonna let me play a racial slur that's also a kind of martial arts and it's so many points. And I'm using it like the martial arts definition. Don't freak out
What playing Crossplay with the wife is like
Came home from vacation to a multi-thousand dollar plumbing problem.
So if you ever considered subscribing to thechinesecinema.com, now would be a good time. Every drop in the bucket helps, so to speak.
The fucking New York Times crossplay app not letting me play the word "gooner." hate crime
Oh FUCK YOU CROSSPLAY
data is a better parent than most frankly
Headline on Hollywood Reporter that reads ”Paddington 4, Escape From New York' Reboot in the Works”
I misread the headline as one movie and got very excited for a moment…
(To say nothing of knowing that it's also best for them to not be in MY life, really. Doesn't make it hurt less, or that I can't miss them on the regular.)
A deeply difficult thing to experience, especially when you try to get back into each other's orbits to try again and the old hurts just.... can't be overcome.
They have every reason to not talk to me again, but that doesn't mean it doesn't still hurt, or I can't wish I was treated with more grace.
The worst is when you start to move on and you’re living your life and something happens and you think “You know who I want to tell?” And then remember that you can’t any more.
On top of that it'll also be great to spend time with the beautiful, gorgeous, always correct @woahitsjuanito.bsky.social for a good few days.
Bit of a last-minute announcement, but I never found a good time to say it:
I'm thrilled to head to Orlando this week to attend the Florida Film Festival, as a member of the Documentary Jury! I can't wait to take in some great docs (and hopefully reward a good one).

Update: the hole they dug to install the drain cap is finally filled, and I want so bad to put a headstone here

Katarina Zhu's debut BUNNYLOVR works best when it's digging into the lonely interiority of its sex worker protagonist... If only its meandering structure and invasive camera could get out of the way.
