I just find it fascinating that a Communist run country opens and allows more private small business than capitalist America.

I agree the Chinese are very buddy-buddy. Even though the language barrier I had old man police officers just strike up convos with me (both of us gesturing). They blabber on the trains and shout in public like Americans do. Happy to meet and give you firm handshakes.

I will say, in addition to there being a visa process which Americans are not use to, the necessity of Alipay and Wechat for every transaction, and their poor English language support for setup, probably prevents a lot of Western tourists overall.

Funny I took photos of every single meal and snack I ate except for the one where I ate this dish. But yeah this is a common dish here and I ate it with rabbit, not chicken, and in Chengdu. Same thing tho. Same chilis and fry. Very delicious.

Latest from Chongqing. The problem is the ground on one block (this bridge area i entered from "the ground floor" west) is the 10th or 20th floor a block or two away. Which itself is also 20 stories above another block elsewhere.

I have a Sichuan friend who always talks up their cuisine's spice level and numbing and ive been able to handle it fine. But Chongqing spice i think i reached my limit. Shit was painfully hot.

Prefer both to Japanese which emphasizes no seasoning but ingredients which im not a fan

I loved Japan but nearing the halfway point on my China trip and i gotta be honest that im having way more fun in China than Japan. Perhaps because i have several friends here doing wild shit with me or the food's better or the Chinese are behaviorally closer to Americans than the Japanese.

Its worth it! Highlight for me and the walk around the area.
If you go Monday the official giftshop will be closed so no merch.
The golden castle going viral is cool too but i dont think seeing it from the critical mass bridge is worth it.

Chinese friend says this was a typical residential area until the train video went viral on Instagram and then all the shops a few years ago became tourist attractions

the evolutionary obsession of men chosing younger partners was always about giving birth and domestic duties. As that goes so too will the older male younger female age gaps. Might even be a liability. Younger now means no money.

the performative man hating stuff is completely irrelevant to the rise of older women and younger men relationships. That guy probably just prefers a mature partner which is the natural evolution of women's lib and entrance into the workforce and education.

I dont think its in spite of spending power but because of it. People arent having kids. Relationships are now less about finding a partner to do domestic duties and more about a coequal partner to travel and leisure with. Older women who are financially independent and experienced have that.
