Marvel/Disney need to get the memo on the MCU and Star Wars:

There is diminishing returns on this shit. You can't pump out 3 movies a year and have a gazillion spinoffs and TV shows and stuff. People get exhausted.

If I need to watch a new version of a movie I've already paid to see, so that I am aware of the added footage that makes sense of your new movie, then I'd say your movie universe is an utter failure

Keir Starmer and Morgan McSweeney Ignored Warnings About Peter Mandelson’s Epstein and Russia links Documents reveal Mandelson’s appointment as ambassador to the US was rushed through despite warnings about the “reputational risks” of his financial and personal ties

Keir Starmer claiming to be staggered that he wasn't told that Peter Mandelson had failed vetting.

In reality he'd already been warned by the Propriety and Ethics Team about Mandelson's Epstein and Russian links and appointed him anyway, despite the full vetting not having concluded yet

A lot of noise is made about the Triple Lock on pensions, where they rise with measured inflation (CPI)… but then why are UK pensions some of the lowest in Europe?

Partially it’s because gov figures on inflation don’t match the real world.

1 week ago 2 0 1 0

The gov has an interest in calculating/reporting inflation figures as lower than they actually are. Makes it look like they’re doing a better job and means they don’t have to increase pensions as much.

This damn post has absolutely ruined my brain every time I hear someone mention "for the time being." Major kudos to the poster, if I ever meet you in person I will congratulate you and then punch you in the face.

The new VERY hagriographic Michael Jackson biopic starring MJ's nephew is out at the end of the month. But back in 2004 an unauthorised and EQUALLY flattering biopic was made in Canada. Here is a clip and I promise you have NO idea where it's going. I haven't done a single edit here.

66 Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike of their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed.
That word is "Nazi." Nobody cares about their motives anymore.
They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval.
And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after. Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?

So what this means going forward is that they’ll continue to vacillate between aggression and compromise until the markets stop reacting.

Scam world, scam government. The only way it ends is if we remove these people’s ability to make money from crises.

Yes, Trump and those surrounding him are awful enough people that they will literally kill thousands of innocent civilians to personally enrich themselves. That’s what this whole war is about, why not continue doing what he was doing to maximise the gains.

If you know when the markets will move, and which direction, you can 10x your money each time by trading options and derivatives.

That’s why we keep seeing these weird trading volume spikes right before Trump makes an announcement.

There’s also Prediction Markets but that’s small time stuff.

Call me cynical but the whole TACO thing is Trump manipulating the stock market. He did it with tariffs until people stopped responding and now he’s doing it with war.

Flip-flopping between insanely aggressive messaging and chickening out is the most efficient way to make the markets swing.
