Just wrapped up #MediaPsych2025 in Duisburg, Germany! I received incredibly helpful feedback in the PhD workshop and presented two studies (one on privacy protection and one on the digital divide). I’m grateful for the supportive community and looking forward to the next one!
Our recent mixed-methods research shows that risk and efficacy perceptions of algorithmic bias can be shaped by demographic backgrounds. Check out the paper (open access) for more details!

We argue that to theoretically broaden the scope of the tech maintenance research, and practically inform policy, we need to look beyond individual-level phenomena to understand how community- and institutional-level factors shape existing social and digital inequalities.
In this research, Amy Gonzales and I adopted a social ecological approach to understanding people's experience of keeping themselves digitally connected across the individual, network, and institutional levels.
I had the honor of presenting my research on U.S. low-income adults' barriers and strategies related to maintaining the quality of their digital devices at the #CommHorizons Conference at UC Davis! 🧵
This paper was published in JA's special issue on Surveillance and Ethics in Advertising. We are grateful to the editors for their feedback and support during the revision process!

My recent study (OA) found that people's perceived surveillance did not differ as a function of exposure to ad transparency info, but it was related to various cognitive, affective, and behavioral outcomes of personalized advertising. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
Congratulations!!
7/9 see you at #ica25!
I started this project during my first year as an MA student and we've gone through a long way trying to publish it: 3 rounds of revision & 7 reviewers. Well, that pretty much says everything...
It's only been 7 days since the start of 2025 and I've already had 2 journal rejections sitting in my inbox😅 But still I'm happy to share that my paper with Ron Rice on device & time comparisons in online privacy phenonema has just been published in BIT!
