I think @sarahtaber.bsky.social might have something to say about this

It’s especially odd that “free speech” doesn’t include students.

I enjoyed that, thanks.

Although the soda question threw me as my answer is “fizzy drink” 🤣

Sigh. Yet another "we've improved the look of our website" from a bank, which means "you used to be able to see all your accounts at a glance, but now you've got to scroll through all this unnecessary verbiage" and "it looks fine on the giant monitor our devs and designers use".

That’s horrible

Sorted

Because content design has historically been a female-gendered profession and of course that means it’s less valuable due to patriarchy

I’ve got some difficult news. Instant mashed potato was gentrified by no less than @nigella.bsky.social as a way of getting potato into a loaf in “Domestic Goddess”.

There’s only turnip left. Unless you’re French, of course, and consider turnips to be edible.

Got to say that Apple iTunes is best described as “clunky” but I’m used to it. I play stuff directly from iTunes on my desktop, or from my iPhone when out and about.

Recently I’ve borrowed books on CD from the library too.

No idea what the equivalent Android etc might be, surely there is one.

Do it! I’m Old Skool and stuck with the CDs-onto-iPod, never moved to the whole streaming thing because I thought it would cut out artists I want to hear. No regrets.

In today’s episode of #FixTheForms, @soniaturcotte.bsky.social correctly moans about “premature erroring”, where you get nagged about a wrong input before you’ve had a chance to type a correct one.

Pro tip: give people a chance to get it right before telling them they’ve got it wrong.

Another example for @sarahtaber.bsky.social’s collection of raw milk advocacy disasters (also known as “nothing wrong with consuming untreated raw milk and cream so long as you’re comfortable with ingesting cow poop and its pathogens with every mouthful”)

Well, I got the usual annual council tax demand for my late mother's flat from Westminster Council, with loads of stuff about 'best way to pay is by direct debit' and 'do this on the website'.

25 mins later, person confirms that it's not possible to do this as an executor.

Sigh.

I'd suggest maybe holding off for a bit before doing anything too drastic, as (personal experience and some observation of others) rapid weight loss through illness is quite likely to reverse itself at least somewhat as you get better.

Especially as the jeans look fab on their website.

Give me a teeny tiny wild strawberry over a giant under-flavoured one every time.

There was a big flat box of giant strawberries at the supermarket the other day - looked tempting, but not even a hint of strawberry scent. The proper season doesn’t start here (UK) until June anyway.

Hmm. Speaking as a Catholic in recovery, it’s supposed to be no hot cross buns before Easter … but because of the “in recovery” bit, my rule is that Mothering Sunday onwards is close enough.

As for mince pies, I’m not a mince pie eater. Much prefer mincemeat baklava.

Mince pies returning in August?

Strawberries and cream at Wimbledon? (Admittedly, not a bakery item).

PIAAC The Survey of Adult Skills, a product of the PIAAC, measures adults’ proficiency in literacy, numeracy and problem solving.

Wow! My stuff is definitely very niche, but it just so happens that PIAAC is exactly what I’m getting my head around at the moment
