Don't forget about the DRM-free Humble Bundle from Tor (with Murderbot, Witch King, and more), benefiting World Center Kitchen. The donation is now at over 58,000. It would be awesome to get it up to $100,000.

In case you were looking for a grimsweet fantasy roadtrip, THE WITCH ROADS is available now.
Fellow film tech nerds, I had the incredible honor and pleasure to be invited back to the Team Deakins podcast. This time we discussed maintaining image authorship throughout the pipeline and how colorspaces work.

I enjoy Omnibus and Blank Check
I think it’s possible to write a custom function in JavaScript if the formulas get too crazy: developers.google.com/apps-script/...
Wow, the new Spiritbox album is so good! 🇨🇦
Check out Navigational Entanglements! A great novella from one of my favourite writers.
If any Hugo Awards voters enjoyed Lower Decks, it would be very cool to get a nod!
Thank you for your consideration.
This is our entire campaign.

There’s a new built-in feature that will sync to an Iceberg table. On my todo list to try out… aws.amazon.com/about-aws/wh...
Since I am 1 week away from unemployment, if you or someone you know needs a music video this year... please ask me. I enjoy it and I want to do more of it. Also I need to prove to the bluesky libs that I'm not a radical leftist TV writer... I also make films
The Hugos have a *Best Series* category and Between Earth & Sky is eligible this year. (Black Sun, Fevered Star, Mirrored Heavens.) I'd love your nomination if you're into such things. Nominations open today!!

I have a story in this but I’m just getting to read my author copy and it’s a real treat. An absolute smorgasbord of the weird and the fantastical.
In today's post, I talk about one of my favorite shows to air in the last 20 years... the show that my own daughter asks to see the most... and convey why you (yes you!) should watch #StarTrekLowerDecks
Rhys is the #1 hype person for this series and it always makes me so happy. They both came out in the pandemic and so they were challenging releases, but I love our angry, stabby queers in space. They deserved more flowers. I wish more people knew about them.
Elder Race by @aptshadow.bsky.social is on Prime Reading at the moment, so I borrowed it on a whim, and it was lovely. A great blend of epic fantasy and sci-fi, and a great story about language (including a great little segment of direct "translation"). torpublishinggroup.com/elder-race/ #booksky
Very much enjoyed In The Shadow of The Ship, a new novella by @aliettedebodard.com

Read all of Stormlight Archive for the first time last year. Enjoyed the series but it took up a _lot_ of reading time.
Looking forward to reading more widely this year. Next up is @aliettedebodard.com’s “In the Shadow of the Ship” from the great Xuya universe.
Doodles of Star Trek: Lower Decks characters D'vana Tendi, Beckett Mariner and . Mariner in the middle wraps her arms around Tendi and T'lyn, who fistbump each other. Mariner and Tendi have huge grins on ther faces, while T'lyn wears a small smile. They stand in front of a view of space, which shows a pink and purple planet.
A girls trio commission that I did for @puppylaurah.bsky.social 🥰
Haven’t seen enough talk about Alien Clay by @aptshadow.bsky.social so, let’s talk.
✔️ Limits of academic dissent
✔️ Trademark themes re: empathy as a biological imperative
✔️ Nuanced ecological speculation in a thoroughly alien biome
✔️ Superb audiobook performance
✔️ A 2024 fave

Over on Tumblr, another post about recent books that deserve more attention. This time I'm going on about how much I like @kateelliottsff.bsky.social's Unconquerable Sun and Furious Heaven: www.tumblr.com/crudely-draw...
I work in visual effects. We work crazy hours under difficult conditions for movies that make billions and yet we are “ruining movies” with our work. I went on a YouTube show to illustrate the human side of our work, that computers don’t create visual effects. People do.

Cover of novel, The Blue, Beautiful World by Karen Lord, with a tilted image of an iridescent iris against the starry darkness of deep space. Text above cover says: ‘“Karen Lord weaves a complex story of first contact from a unique perspective that is warm, engaging, and wildly original. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!” — Martha Wells, New York Times bestselling author of The Murderbot Diaries.’ Text at bottom left: karenlord.wordpress.com @DrKarenLord (on twitter instagram tumblr bluesky)
Bluesky hasn’t seen this yet! Lovely words from Martha Wells. Publication date for The Blue, Beautiful World is 29 August for the US edition, 31 August for the UK edition. Busy fortnight ahead!
Sorcerer is fucking insane do NOT watch this movie on weed you will die and go to truck hell
