My free to read short story, Under the Slippery Sky, is about how much we stand to lose when we dismiss indigenous and traditional ways of knowing in favor of 'modern' technology, written in collaboration for the Applied African SF and BSFA Vector project π

Just realized I don't have plans to unalive any major characters in this book (yet) and wow--um--this is so unlike me. Should I let them live this time?? Or should I stay true to form and off someone? πππ

7 would be truly terrible
I guess π but it still doesn't make me happy π
Is anyone else as bugged as I am by TV shows having 9 episodes. Not 8. Not 10. But 9. WHY!?!?!? That's like rating something out of 7 stars!! It hurts my brain so much I almost don't want to watch this show.

On the topic of conventions, will you come to FinnCon this year??
What a productive 'rest' day π I managed to complete a marketing task and formatting/proofreading for Born of Malice, and then I added 1500 words to the YA horror WIP π (I even slipped in some household chores and a game of Munchkin!)

I highly recommend this stunning post-apocalyptic novel in verse. It absolutely blew me away with its intensity and beauty.
Storygraph month wrap-up graphic showing the number of books read (15), pages (3843), and average rating (4.1). Highest rated books included Homebody by Theo Parish. Most read category this month was LGBTQIA+
March was a pretty good month for reading π₯°
How'd everyone else do?

It will when it's done π
The new horror novel is now over 40k words !!! π₯³π₯³π₯³
(and since my agent loved the blurb, I guess it's officially a WIP) βΊοΈ

I added 1800 fresh words to the WIP today. Writing has been a little slow lately with life things demanding more of time but knowing my agent loves the idea of this book has definitely renewed my motivation! I'm just shy of 40k words now, so about half way! π

Oh, I love Turisas. So interesting!
I'm about to finish Brigands and Breadknives by Travis Baldree, and listening to the new Gaerea album called Loss.
Oof, that show sounds intense!
You're reading the book? Or watching the new film version?
What's everyone reading?
Or listening to, or watching??

Sometimes, I'll read a super interesting article or see a call for contributors that makes me miss academia and regret giving up on my PhD. Sometimes, I really do want to go back to uni, but then I remember my friends who are academics and their constant list of woes π

Ah, that warm fuzzy feeling when the title of your WIP unexpectedly slides seamlessly into a bit of prose in the middle of a particularly good paragraph and everything just feels right with the world π
*it's important to savor these smalls moments of delight
