Disgusting reporting by BBC using a tiny number of cases to suggest widespread abuse of a system which routinely denies LGBTQIA+ individuals asylum and forces them back into environments of persecution. This article massively distorts the reality of the situation. 1/

Hegseth embraces the perception that Iran is an improv war: “Our adversary right now thinks there are 15 diff ways we could come at them with boots on the ground & guess what? There are. … the point is to be unpredictable [and to] certainly not let anybody know what you’re willing to do or not do.“
Wow. Career ending in any normal times. "A broker for Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary, attempted to make a big investment in major defence companies in the weeks leading up to the US-Israeli attack on Iran, according to three people familiar with the matter." www.ft.com/content/744e...

That’s a v nice service to the discipline.
Unsurprisingly, the numbers are brutal. Too many things have gone wrong in the past decade. If only we had the institutions with the willingness to change them.

My and @henrikdku.bsky.social paper on regulating AI is accepted in Journal of Business Ethics! We argue for domain specific theorising and against the use of abstract thought experiments: autonomous cars are better understood as participants in the traffic institution than as trolleys, for example.
Excited to present work in progress at two @hist-isanet.bsky.social panels at the @isanet.bsky.social convention in Columbus this week - one today, another on Tuesday. Details below! 👇 #HistIR
