Telling another cowboy to stand down:
The government's determination to lose the next election to a party with no abiding commitment to parliamentary democracy is a remarkable piece of negligence.

Meta is logging its workersā every keystroke to train the AI that will replace them.
Extract what workers know. Model it. Cut the workers.
This is happening because governments are letting it happen. On this. On Palantir. On facial recognition.
Inaction is still a choice. And someone is making it.
Itās Earth Day⦠Hug a tree!
- Text the tree the next day.
- Start hugging the tree regularly.
- Meet the treeās parents.
- Move in with the tree.
- Marry the tree.
- Stop hugging the tree.
- Grow apart from the tree.
- Start hugging other trees.
- Divorce the tree.
- Die alone.
A child was shot dead near school. Communities are living in fear that settlers can return at any moment. Villages are surrounded by outposts and violent extremists hellbent on forcing Palestinians off their land at any cost. 1/3

we have a whole political and media class that has basically made policy making of any import impossible for nearly two decades by treating anything other than spending cuts and authoritarianism as "unserious" and/or "reckless"
The idea that you need to send corrupt sociopaths as Ambassadors to DC is so funny, because it's a standard we have never applied anywhere.
We don't appoint corrupt gangsters to embassies in Moscow or religious fanatics to Tehran.
Also, Mamdani is able to handle Trump fine without becoming him.
I canāt believe immigrants have taken over our proud 16th C heritage
Thing about consequences is they're never just about retribution or punishment for bad actors or people who've fucked up, they're a necessary part of maintaining standards and ideals that you intend others to abide by in the future. Feels like as a society we're losing sight of this basic principle.
Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

I disagree with the flak this app gets. Just don't follow people that make you cringe. Mute them. Follow the funny ones. It's like hanging out in the coloring book section of a bookstore and being like wow this place is for idiots
Earlier this week, I was asked to guest on a science podcast to dicuss the phenomenon of Imposter Syndrome
My immediate thought was "Crap, why are they asking me? I don't know what I'm doing!"
So yeah, I have some relevant insight
I've long stopped caring about what zionism means to anyone. I care about the outcomes and minimizing bloodshed.

The Israeli army struck civilians in the Lebanese city of Mayfadoun.
And then, the Israelis double-tapped the medics who arrived onto the scene.
And then, they triple-tapped the next wave of medics.
And then, they did it one more time for good measure.
I hate it here

Israel's hegemonic ideology is Kahanism: pursuing a Jewish non-democratic one state where Palestinians are subjugated, expelled or dead.
Some say this is an inevitable continuation of Zionism, others that it is a corruption of Zionism.
I disagree with both accounts, but don't mind either.

first of all, this is 8 years old. secondly, this is a distortion of what he said and not a direct quote from the video, which isnāt great but significantly less controversial than this. he said āthey believe itās their land, we believe itās ours, which is why there isnāt peace.ā
