If only you guys knew how much business supplies cost every month in a volatile environment ๐ซ

I was at the store and someone started screaming after me after I left to ask me how much something cost. That person had been talking to the sales clerk before I left because they were behind me in line. Like, why are you asking me when you could have just asked the sales clerk you just talked to
ESPECIALLY....when you were already talking to the sales clerk
Ok ppl, it's weird and alarming to run out of an Ace Hardware yelling and chasing another person down...to ask a question about how much something cost in the Ace Hardware.
I know, I'm being very critical. I just am honestly frustrated because it's a fun character, the premise was a good one and I am just sad it wasn't executed more uh cleanly
Also, the love interest. It felt very uhhh forced and not natural banter, natural progression. Maybe it's that I listened to the audiobook so it reads differently. Like it's ok if they take their time.
To move this story forward, also secondary characters had to act weirdly. Why would an excellent assassin not notice she was being followed by a non combatant character when she is going to do battle? The secondary character had zero battle prowess, no skills at all. Also the neighbors? OMG how
Kit is an assassin, supposedly an excellent one. Her actions are out of character for someone who is an excellent assassin.
Kit would not have simply said yes to accepting a random boarder into her house. Yes she did in the first book but it was compelling reasons for her to do so, involving a kid. We know Kit has a soft heart so getting her to eventually say yes is still reasonable. But not without good considerations.
I finished A Skirl of Sorcery and was completely not wowed. Great premise but if the main character has to act outside their normal character without a compelling reason in order to move the plot, then it doesn't work.
So it's surprising to see her just willingly say yes even with all the warning signs that something is amiss. Kit does act contrary to her profession at times but this was extremely odd.
Not far enough in the story to see if this makes sense or if it was simply to make the plot move forward. An assassin is always going to ask a lot of questions before simply saying yes, magic bound favor or not. I thought that was part of deal when she agreed the first time.
Started Helen Harper's A Skirl of Sorcery and it's picking up at chapter 7 thankfully. I don't like it when a smart character has to make dumb decisions for the sake of the plot and Kit was definitely acting a bit too dumb for her occupation before this chapter.
3 day weekends should be standard, just saying
I need to inventory supplies so I can place supply orders, need to do some creative work as well and honestly need to zone out for at least half a day because this week has been a lot
I have a lot to do tomorrow too lol
Today was a loooong day
Finishing up half day at work and then I have to run errands, some vampirism from the doc and then a huge pickup of supplies for the business capped off with kid unpaid uber duties, then back to the business to get some shipments out today ๐ this is why I'm always so busy
I finished the inevitable ruin! It was a whole lot lol I stand by my last thoughts, lots of great moments but clunky flow overall. It will probably work better on a secondary listen just like Iron tangle book.
The more I think about it, it's the interludes, especially flashbacks and character POV shifts, side conversations, etc. There are so many of them.
I know the goal is that they have to win, of course but after the Naga part everything story wise seemed to go just sideways, especially with all the plot threads, flashbacks and surprises. All the interludes really threw me out of the battle storyline.
I think it's a little overly complex with all the off world and in world goings on. Understanding the overall universe is important but I think maybe this was too much? Lots of great moments but the story is very jumbled.
In the last part of The Inevitable Ruin and the story is really complex with all the interludes, characters and just general chaos going on.
I had forgotten how good Yuri on Ice is ๐
Also my blood pressure was terrible as a result of the insurance stress and general doctor office stress yay lol
Just a reminder to not just say ok when someone says they checked and that's what they were given. It's annoying, it shouldn't be that hard, but you have to advocate for yourself.
I had to call my insurance myself to get them in contact with the right representative because they talked to someone who gave them the incorrect info previously
Never fails, I arranged all my insurance info at a new doctor office weeks ago to make sure we would be good for the visit and they of course did not have the correct info when I got here and tried to charge me $800. ๐
It's probably good that I'm giving myself a chance to recover before Book 8 comes out in May ๐ซ
