Emails show Amazon colluding with other firms to raise prices, California authorities allege The previously redacted messages were unveiled as part of an antitrust battle with California’s attorney general

"By maintaining this artificial price floor, Bonta contends, has allowed Amazon to preserve the appearance of low prices while heading off robust competition and extracting more from consumers."

And I think I remember his pep talks being something like “yeah, this team is absolutely better than us but if we run them into the ground, maybe we can squeak a goal out” which isn’t inspiring but probably set expectations pretty clearly.

He clearly sees the pros and cons of US players and plays to get wins out of them.

He doesn’t try to make them play great or even good soccer. It’s about winning with brute force and persistence. (It’s why he usually gets more out of homegrowns too)

Democrats should channel FDR:

“The Court has improperly set itself up as a third House of the Congress—a super-legislature… We have reached the point as a Nation where we must take action to save the Constitution from the Court and the Court from itself.” www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/fi...

(we can't compete but every person we help is a whole universe.)

(I don't have the time to get into the data about the correlation between being denied abortion care and falling into / being trapped in poverty, being trapped in abusive relationships, increase in mortality, + more but.)

I know people bristle at the idea of leftists who police language but a big reason it happens is because, especially as it relates to politicians, the language we choose serves as an entirely accurate predictor of the types of policy decisions we would make & who we would & wouldn’t place value on

CA Dems too. Using legislative super majorities to enshrine a status quo of passivity has earned nothing but enmity from most people left of center.

I think that as economists we should be a lot more concerned that everyone feels like they've got poorer when the data show they haven't. We certainly shouldn't just be assuming that the customers are wrong, rather than that we're no longer measuring things that are most relevant to wellbeing

Our teen librarian thought about making a list of “clean” books because they were asked for so often, and then stopped, because to keep that list means it could be FOIA-ed and used as evidence that library “knows” some books are bad.

This is not paranoia. Right wingers weaponize FOIA.

We need all hands on deck to stop H.R. 7661, the federal book banning bill.

Your voice matters. Congressional offices track every call—we CAN make a difference.

I hope you’ll join me in speaking out. There's a script you can follow here: action.everylibrary.org/callhr7661

They should hop on the multiverse bandwagon and just drop Jacen, Jaina, and Lowbacca in there.

Raw dumpling. It’s sealed.

There is a historical recipe for a “toast sandwich” where a piece of toast, seasoned with salt and pepper, is sandwiched between two pieces of plain bread.

By that logic, if you butter the middle pancake, you got yourself a sandwich.

In Korea, when the president declared martial law after midnight and erected barricades in Seoul, congressional reps from all parties ran into the streets, yanked ak47s from the army at the barricades, broke down the locked door to Congress, repealed the martial law order, and arrested the president

"What can Democrats do?"

When the South Korean president attempted to declare martial law, South Korean lawmakers literally fought through tanks and military forces and climbed fences to get into their Parliament building to stop him.

So, you know, that.
