That shift is coming whether we are ready for it or not. The ones who adapt earliest will have an interesting time. The ones who do not will find the org chart has reorganised itself around them.

The awkward question sitting in the middle of all this is whether the education system, the job market, and most organisations can produce executive level thinkers fast enough to keep up. The bottleneck is no longer processing power. It is the number of people who can think like a CEO.

Employers, meanwhile, start to look less like managers and more like board members. Less interested in how the work gets done, more interested in whether it delivers the agreed return, stays within budget, and aligns with what the shareholders actually want. Autonomy = Accountability.

Every employee will be running their own business unit. Set the direction, manage a workforce of AI agents, check the outputs, stay aligned with the strategic goals of the organisation, and know when to trust the machine and when to override it. It's the job description of CEO.

Random morning thought: The job description for "employee" is being quietly rewritten by something that doesn't take lunch breaks. AI is quickly becoming your workforce, which means you need to start acting like a manager to your AI and a board member to your employees.
