I think two things can be true at once. You can acknowledge that neurodivergence and mental illness deserves grace, while also acknowledging that you are not obligated to accept hurtful treatment. As a neurodivergent and mentally ill person, I understand that I don’t get a free pass to hurt people.

These comments are definitely something. I think it’s a tough situation and I don’t think anyone is arguing people shouldn’t be offended, but rather providing an explanation for those who may not understand tics. Words can be hurtful and people can feel hurt, you feel what you feel.
