If your Env. Science curriculum is good, it includes a variety of courses that prepare graduates for a range of STEM opportunities. I'm a recently retired environmental scientist (groundwater protection). My Env. Science master's program included chemistry, geology, biology, statistics, and GIS.

I teach a class on data science here at Illinois and during the seminar I host a competition for the class called "The Hunt for the Worst Data Visualization."
