looking back on how DA has been treated, it all makes a huge amount of sense now which is so depressing. DA was a golden goose, so it always struck me as bizarre how much EA seemingly HATED it.

Thank you for the recommendation! I love the idea that if I miss my girl using the buttons the app will tell me what she said.

What buttons do you use that they have an app associated with them?

If you're too busy trying to keep your family from starving or freezing to death then you're too busy to fight the feudal oligarchy devouring the world

Several years ago l invited a Buddhist monk to speak to my Senior elective class, and quite interestingly, as he entered the room, he didn't say a word (that caught everyone's attention). He just walked to the board and wrote this: "EVERYONE WANTS TO SAVE THE WORLD, BUT NO ONE WANTS TO HELP MOM DO THE DISHES." We all laughed. But then he went on to say this to my students:
"Statistically, it's highly unlikely that any of you will ever have the opportunity to run into a burning orphanage and rescue an infant. But, in the smallest gesture of kindness -- a warm smile, holding the door for the person behind you, shoveling the driveway of the elderly person next door -- you have committed an act of immeasurable profundity, because to each of us, our life is our universe."

Been thinking about this a lot (not tagging the sender, for their privacy). Most of us won't have the chance for for grand, capital-R Resistance heroics. But every one of us will have a thousand small choices to make about how to live our lives and where to draw lines. Use them well.

So here's what's cool about my job:

Yesterday morning I said, "We really ought to have TWIN PEAKS available." So then a bunch of people scrambled, worked really hard, and now you can watch every episode of David Lynch & Mark Frost's original series for free on Pluto TV: pluto.tv/us/on-demand...

I remember when I'd fallen deep in it the different random bits and versions about Lorien drove me crazy, gave me more questions than answers, and the condescension talking about how Galadriel and Celeborn became rulers because the silvans needed it like they were a pack of crazy mountain hippies.

I grew up in a pioneer town, where the graveyard had sections that were the tiny potato sized gravestones for 'the 25 toddlers that died of flu in the winter of 1838' and 'the 5 kids that died of whooping cough in 1840' on and on. really drives home the value of vaccines when you see shit like that.

The story you write for a "wide audience" will be trammeled by your own (incorrect) belief in the existence of normal people.

The story you write for the weird little goblin who lives inside your brain will grow wings because the world is full of weird little goblins
