One of my favorite projects from last year. Such a beautiful and emotional story of friendship.

In addition to one of the bad guys going through 4 Supreme Court trials and still not being found guilty and being allowed to continue serving in the government.

Watching a Star Wars marathon today and this quote really got to me:
"The day we stop believing Democracy can work is the day we lose it"

What's your favorite way to listen to audiobooks?

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

Kobo plus allows unlimited reads and listens sort of like KU but doesn't require author exclusivity! How great for indie authors! Spotify let's me listen to 15 hours per month. I use this sort of like an extended sample and listen to a chapter or two and then buy on Libro.fm!

What are some of my favorite ways to listen to #audiobooks ? I'm so glad you asked. Hoopla is awesome because I use my library card and supporting local libraries is coolio! Libro.fm allows DRM free downloads so you can KEEP your audiobooks and a portion of sales go to indie bookstores. 1)

Good morning #booksky

Just a friendly reminder that Audible, owned by Amazon/Bezos, supports the tech giant. Libro.fm offers an alternative, letting you buy audiobooks while supporting independent bookstores. Choose where your dollars go and align your listening with your values.

Full transparency, I dropped out of opera school in part because I wasn't able to do the self work I needed at the time to accomplish this. One Masters in counseling later, regular therapy, and a diagnosis of adhd and I have a much better handle on the rejection sensitivity that was crippling me

For me, therapy lol. It has taken a lot of self work to be able to sit with feelings of jealousy and understand what it meant and what it was trying to tell me. Jealousy isn't bad, acting maliciously because of it is. I can't help compare myself to others. Instead of fight it, I reframe it.

AND ANOTHER THING.... lol. I'm on a roll today. The answer to lost wages is *gasp* ANOTHER INSURANCE COMPANY πŸ˜‘ That I have to pay into and convince to cover my expenses which they will argue about whether I actually can use the benefits. ASK ME HOW I KNOW

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

The fact that people can't take the leave they need without losing wages is a problem. The fact that people have to beg their co-workers to donate their saved leave so they don't go without is a problem. We shouldn't be relying on donations to subsidize our Healthcare needs. 6

I feel like it's especially challenging for educators because we have to get approval to even take leave without pay. It can be denied. So I always debate whether I do the thing for my mental health so I don't have a breakdown or do I save it for when my kid gets pneumonia. 6

I have never been able to bounce back from that. I have no idea what I would do if something major happened in my family and I needed to take extended leave. I am extremely privileged. I make a good salary and so does my spouse and we are one accident away from it all falling apart. 5

I haven't had the chance to "save up" my sick days since before covid. Once we came back, I burned through 2 years of saved leave in 3 months because my children were quarantined 3 times (in my opinion, due to poor health & safety protocols resulting in outbreaks). 4

Between missing work for my own kids appointments/being sick, etc my own health appointments to manage my various health issues, I burn through the 10, yes TEN, sick days I get per year very quickly. 3

My day job is in education (shh don't tell them my secret identity) and I just received ANOTHER request for a leave donation because they have to be out for a spouse having a very serious medical procedure. I have nothing to donate because I myself have chronic health issues and three kids 2

While we are on the topic of health care, can we also talk about how terrible the sick leave situation is here too? Not only do people have to fight to get their serious medical procedures covered, but they also have to contend with how they will continue to pay their OTHER bills when missing work 1

Also, I started counting words narrated instead of releases. Someone could do 10 novellas in the time it takes to do a few big projects. So word count or hours completed feels more satisfying 😌

You are CRUSHING it. I recorded 3 books in my first year. It's hard not to compare your numbers to others in the same "graduating class" as you but slow and steady will get you there! Congrats on all you accomplished!!

I'm about to start my last projects of 2024, and planning my calendar for 2025! This is surreal, but I am currently booked through April 2025 and have a few other random spots throughout the year being held for projects. I'm so incredibly excited for everything coming next year!! #narrator

My oldest is listening to The Hunger Games audiobook and is super excited about the Rue/Katniss team up. It's a Canon event. I can't interfere.
