I say this while still believing that VII, while a relatively safer movie, succeeded in making a foundation for a trilogy that might've had less retroactive souring if IX managed to stick the landing better

IX is a victim of bringing in a filmmaker not well-regarded for conclusions to create a new conclusion film within less than two years. frankly, as it were, the demand was unreasonable for anyone who could've come in after Trevorrow, alongside the pandemic making a later theatrical release unlikely
I think you're overestimating the level of online JJ Abrams is
Jon was also on Wolf of Wall Street which I imagine helped
(also, that YA cartoon includes a number of things the more adult-oriented star wars show used, so I don't really see why this is a problem)
that movie is too cobbled together in such a short amount of time to be the result of online grifters. it's just a mess for its own merits
for what it's worth, I've liked Filoni's work since Avatar, but people give him way too much credit for the animated shows post-Resistance. he creates them and works on them, but he hasn't been supervising director again because he's got other roles now
Sam Witwer has said they've tried to make it so that you can start with Shadow Lord without needing to know all the facets of Maul's story, which I think they've done pretty well with so far. the only exception is a mention of his mother and brother's deaths, and that's really it
I don't understand how people say "I'm tired of following clone wars characters" in one breath and "I hope they do direct adaptations of EU publishing stories we already know" in the next
maybe I should delete my account
they gave him kissable lips
he's like the third buff Hutt they've made in the past ten years which is amusing to consider
I've wondered before if using words like refresher or credits ever gets confusing in either an in-universe or writing context, since both have unique meanings in star wars
I like to think most pedestrian sayings and concepts can exist in the context of star wars, even if they're called something different sometimes (caf, refresher)
I think the only real point of comparison there is Maul trying to get a new apprentice. something that he's attempted well before Acolyte released
Acolyte with production values closer to the films would go so hard, honestly
listen: I think Acolyte got an extremely bad rap for no valid reason, and it's a shame it didn't get renewed just as it was diving into the Sith stuff. but it being cancelled has little to do with the other shows and their level of success
I've seen at least five or so posts from Acolyte fans angry that the Maul show got renewed and is doing pretty well viewership-wise. I thought it was obvious that animation is less costly than live-action Star Wars series, and those numbers are pretty great in terms of the animated series only
I'm 99 percent confident that event speech was written well after the movie was finished. the crawl covers the same information anyway
that movie is a mess, but I don't understand why people insist on this being the reason
it's been nearly seven years of back and forth about this movie though, so I don't understand how people have the energy to litigate it again
honestly, I figured if they were gonna keep the clone stuff deleted, the Sith Eternal seeming to know where the Emperor's (intact!) part of the second Death Star is meant they could try to Frankenstein him back together
do you read Sutter Cane?
the way they introduce hot chocolate in Heir to the Empire as this strange exotic drink is funnier than the inclusion itself tbh
lol, that reminds me. was this Pyke concept developed for Solo or something before it? my favorite rendition of the species personally
A screen of Frogger showing the Millennium Falcon traveling from the bottom of the screen (Oba Diah) to the top of the screen (Kessel) in a zig-zag route missing traffic and turtles.
Heh. Found the image I put together to explain the Kessel Run for SOLO.
good kerning, C'baoth
"my butt fell asleep"
I really don't care if anyone wanted to pirate that movie after it released. I wouldn't pay for Paramount+ either. doing it from leaks before a movie's even out is another matter when it affects opportunities for people who worked on it
