Draft one of a sci-fi short is coming along nicely. This will have some experimental infra red shots along with a green screen. Part of the process is a visualization of the opening. Once I saw that, the rest just flowed.
“Destreza: Historical fencing 2nd edition” I had taken 4 tries but I am almost through a complete read through. The next step is to go back and reread with a highlighter in hand. I will also be going through a translation of Rada as check. This book makes me nuts.
After twenty four years of practicing Destreza I had a break through. Drill one and two are mechanical at this point and I try to work not lowering my hand in the shift. This time I put some snap into it. The result was my body was out of the way and there was a quick violent change of line.
First day back to the gym. Yes I went back to planet fuck wit. 10 miles on the stationary bike, 3 sets on the rope pull, 5 dips, and a 60 count barrel with a ten pound medicine ball.
It’s worth the effort. You never know how the depth of a character affects how people respond to your work.
I signed up for a planet fitness membership. After being an employee it was surreal to see a different gym that looked nice and the people were not crushed.
2025 is off to a good start. Weight is down fitness is up. For me it’s drink mostly water, control the intake of garbage food and portion control. Tossing in the exercise I want and or need.
It’s a snow day, aka watching iron man, cleaning my room and doing laundry.
For the new year the plan is to reclaim old skills. Aka sewing and expand on them. On the board now is a 17th century shirt. After that will be some foul weather caps. A cassock or Dutch coat, and a doublet.
