New Lidl has opened on Hoxton Street & of course the street is even more chaos than usual. Overrun with cars parking and turning everywhere. This road desperately needs pedestrianising. Anything less will be a missed opportunity @sarahwoodberrydown.bsky.social @carolinewoodley.bsky.social

Before & After: I don’t think people realize the extent to which parked cars degrade public space.

Yes they help alleviate the chaos immediately around schools but school streets need to cover a wider area. It needs to be inconvenient to drop off by car at the nearest open road. Still far too much schoolrun traffic in Hoxton.

In a recent deputation @hackneycouncil.bsky.social promised to publish Hoxton East traffic analysis by October. Of course they haven’t done it. They’re supposed to consult on the LTN ‘early 2025’ but nobody believes it. Why are Streetscene pathologically incapable of keeping a deadline?
