I do love a series.
Having said that, I would also add anything by Frances Hardinge, Deeplight and A Skinful of Shadows in particular.

A taxidermy squirrel with huge brown eyes (one bigger than the other), wearing Columboās beige raincoat. It is standing on a shelf, surrounded by vases and covered in cobwebs.
April brings us a squirrel off to a fancy dress party as either a flasher or Columboā¦just one more thingā¦

Absolutely agree.
Talking with @f33lthesun.bsky.social about my dresses with pockets collection.
I would like to make it obligatory for dresses to have pockets. They make me happy!
A startled looking seagull with googly eyes, wings flapping, standing on a dusty sideboard. It is wearing red shorts! A bronze bust admires the wing span. Thereās a mirror on the wall behind the gull, but no reflection. A vampire gull? There are cream floral curtains, with tie backs, hung like the mirror is a window.
Mad March is an apt description for this monthās bad taxidermy.
Startled, shorts wearing seagull! @natty008.bsky.social
A dapper ferret/yoda fruit bat like creature with wide dark eyes and a toothy grimace, in a red bow tie, black top hat with blue band round it, taking tea with unknown company, from a white china tea cup with a gold rim and pink roses on it. Mad Hatterās tea party springs to mind, for some reason.
Februaryās bad taxidermy! Looks like it belongs to the JRM family. š

Hope your op goes well. Wishing you a speedy recovery. These will definitely distract you.
A grid of black & white illustrations I made for the book The Woman in Black.
Life is short. A clichĆ© perhaps but one Iāve come to accept & understand over the past year.
Iād like to travel a bit more before I pop my clogs, to visit family in Australia & many other places. Iāll need to earn some money, so in February Iām going to make my original available to purchaseā¦
Instead of everybody making the same joke about the FIFA Peace Prize, maybe we could boycott the World Cup?
Fiona is gorgeous š„°
At least I know itās not me who is the weird friend we all have! š
Yep. Hugo is not best pleased.
It is his superpower.

Yep. She would obviously have totally deserved it and be the one who was ostracised for āmaking him do itā.

Picture of the front of Bad Taxidermy Calendar 2026.
January 2026 calendar picture from Bad Taxidermy Calendar. A mouse wearing a flat cap and front paws resting on a white tea cup. It has a hideous toothy grimace and wide, round, black eyes.
Not sure the world is ready for this but here we go. 2026 calendar, gifted to me by @natty008.bsky.social
Thanksā¦I think! š
January giving Yorkshire vibes, for some reason. š

Happy New Year š„³
It is. It is almost tradition for me to have it for Boxing Day breakfast.
Yes!
It was certainly unexpected. I saw it pecking at something and it suddenly picked it up. Luckily I had the camera on it at the time.

Grey heron facing left, standing in a rock pool.
Grey sky, clouds, sun trying to shine through, sea, sand and a white Jack Russell in a red coat.
A group silhouetted against the sea on a beach. Cloudy sky, crepuscular rays.
Cloudy sky, wind turbines, sea, sand and a wind surfer on the sand.
Boxing Day beach walk.
Thank you. It has definitely been a different make for me, and I have enjoyed it.
I am in awe of the process and imagination to come up with these projects.
