I don’t understand at all this OnePlus is being shut down thing. Haven’t the last couple of phones been bangers? The OnePlus Open was the best foldable when released, and the rumored sequel was supposedly going to follow it. Plus, their latest slab releases have been incredible.

Only time will tell, but if I were Meta, I would definitely be taking this seriously because it is only a matter of time before Apple releases their glasses with an App Store available to all those users as well.
The technology works great, but Google is going to have a whole App Store right at the beginning of useful applications since it is Android-based. This really does put Meta at a disadvantage for both their Quest (I just got the Quest 3 a month ago and do enjoy that product) line and Smart Glasses.
The biggest problem, however, is the app ecosystem, especially with the display. For the display, all the “apps” that are available on it are mainly just Meta’s suite of applications, which in America is not my main form of communication.
For the record, I LOVE my Meta Ray-Bans. I had the Gen 1 product that I recently upgraded to the Gen 2 product and am eagerly awaiting to be able to purchase the Display Glasses and think they are great products for the hardware and the things that they say they will do, they do great.
I spent the last two days thinking about the new announcements from Google about their XR platform, and the thing that I have gathered the most from it is that Meta has a serious disadvantage right now that they have to get figured out.
It supports Matter so you can put it in your ecosystem of choice (mine is HomeKit), but also has its own app as well. It also has a rechargeable battery, which is nice, but it does require a special proprietary cable, which is a negative.
The configuration and setup were easy and work with your existing deadbolt (so you can use your existing keys still), which was important since I am in an apartment.
Nuki Smart Lock Box
Nuki Smart Lock
I have heard some rumblings about this smart lock made by Nuki that was big in Europe and recently became available in the US, and it has been the best experience I have had with a smart lock yet.
My previous smart lock was giving me so many issues that I ended up deciding that I wanted to switch to another after being locked out of my apartment enough times, needing to call maintenance.
I want to get into VR headsets, but I also know how I am when I get into things and will end up with 3 different headsets 😂
The new Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses are super sick. They are 100% going to be an instant buy on Day 1 for me. I have already signed up for my demo.
Pain. This is the first year I’m not getting it day of 🙃 the FOMO is going to be so real for me.
To be completely honest, if the backs were unable to crack, I wouldn't be using a case at all. That is really the only reason that I do use a case.
I don't know if I'm the only person who feels this way, but with foldable phones I do not like the cases that go over the hinge. I know it is really protecting the hinge, but it just feels too bulky.
I think Samsung actually cooked up this one and can’t wait to get this device in my hands. Much improvement over the Z Fold 6. I especially love the front screen being wider.

I was impatient and couldn’t wait for my order of the Z Fold 7 to come in, so I ended up going to Best Buy to see the device in person. This thing is so thin and so light with a great build quality.
I’ll have to see how the device performs once I get it, but so far, I’m excited.
Cons:
- Not a fan of the price increase at all.
- No S Pen Support? I think that is a missed opportunity of something that kept it different from the others. Makes me wonder if the S26 Ultra is going to have the pen go away as well.
- Happy that it is getting some of the specific S25 line features for me to try out, like the Now Brief feature.
- Starting with Android 16 is nice. Hoping that the ONE UI update comes to other devices though sooner rather than later.
Pros:
- Love the wider design. I never liked using the front of my Fold6 (and previous ones) because it was so thin, so I’m happy with the wider design.
- Love the thinness of the device. It feels like it is catching up with the other foldables.
The Z Fold 7 was announced today, and I am excited for it. Some things I like about it, some things I don’t.
My motorola razr+ ultra restarts out of nowhere like once a day. I don't understand why the software is so bad on these devices. Hardware is great, but the software is mediocre compared to my other daily drivers.
Hopefully, they update the Meta Ray-Bans at some point. Also, hoping they pick the Frogskins as one of the styles they do with the Oakley brand. I don't like the style they picked haha
I am all for Meta partnering with the other brands under Essilor Luxottica, but I hope they don't get into the habit of making them all different in features. The ideal situation in my mind is that they are all the same and you can pick your style.
WWDC is my favorite keynote every year. Can’t wait to see what they end up showcasing. While hardware does get me excited, software is what we actually use and interact with, and WWDC is usually the biggest drop of software.
I stopped by Best Buy to see the S25 Edge in person so I can see how light it really is. Man, this thing is incredibly light. I get the hype that might follow it. It is not enough of a feature for me to get it over another phone, but it is remarkable.
Do people use both the Whoop and the Apple Watch? I am curious as to why and what do they get from it? What is the Whoop giving you that the Apple Watch isn't?
I think they just wish their battery health didn't degrade after a couple years and not necessarily just want a longer battery on Day 1. Granted a longer battery on Day 1 might delay them complaining in the future, but I do find this viewpoint interesting.
At least in my circle of non-technical people, most people that complain about their battery life complain after a couple years of owning their phone, not when they first get it.
