I have been using Slackware for a long time. It is my favorite distro.

I wasn't searching, but I am subscribed to a linux-feed.

Slackware is definitely not defunct. It is still very much alive.

Why would you need a VM to play a game in linux? Most steam games play fine in linux these days.

Probably, but at the same time you might still want a computer that isn't on the bleeding edge of technology, as it often takes a few kernel releases to get the drivers for the newest hardware fully usable.

So, Bad Bunny did a performance celebrating Puerto Rico's music and heritage

Puerto Rico is part of the USA

The performance literally said, "God bless the USA" several times

And, Trump predictably calls it un-American

Dude is a total racist jackass

Merge the two Dakotas, they likely have fewer people combined than Puerto Rico too.

Football with writing in gold.

Football with writing in gold.

Bad Bunny’s halftime show was in Spanish.
But the football he held up as the performance ended was inscribed in English: TOGETHER, WE ARE AMERICA.
Amen.

Solid blow-by-blow recap of Bad Bunny's halftime show. Including some English translation and explanations of cultural references.

Seattle wins.

Puerto Rico (and the β€œreal” America) won.

Happiness and joy dominated the night.

Video

I LOVED Bad Bunny's half time show! His lyrics tell stories about his memories & Latin identity.

So the producers littered the stage with mini sets telling stories about ordinary Puerto Ricans.

Unapologetically Latin. Unapologetically Boricua.

Unapologetically human. πŸ‡΅πŸ‡·

Everything. 🀍

Federal agents are pulling over off duty cops based on the color of their skin.

This is not a serious operation to enforce immigration law. It’s a performative show of force and it’s gotten way out of hand.

Libreoffice is pretty similar to Microsoft office. It has a word processor, a spreadsheet, a database, a presentation tool, and a drawing tool. You might give it a try.

When I go in to Barnes and Nobles, they seem to only stock the 3rd book of a new series, or old classics 50+ years old. It is so much easier to find the books I want as ebooks.

Personally, I love Slackware. But it is kinda old-fashioned in many ways. My daughter loves Mint. She installed it by herself in high school.

I really don't think there is that much of a difference between the various distros as far as capabilities go. Any modern distro should be able to run Steam and like 90% of the games available there.

Most distros differ on frequency of updates, package formats, default packages installed, etc.

Those folks just want to spread confusion or promote some agenda of their own. Most normal linux-users just call it linux, or the name of their distro.

I see Slackware, I like it!

Always a good feeling when you manually update to a new kernel, rebuild NVIDIA drivers, and all works first try.

I just moved to kernel 6.18.0 and nvidia 580.105.08.

We found that Donald Trump has granted clemency in at least a dozen criminal cases that originated during his first term.

No president since Clinton has used clemency to erase his own appointees’ actions on such a scale.
