fracking

The problem was that the roads were in sever disrepair at this time after years of tax freezes by very conservative municipal governments. The potholes were so bad the trolley busses would regularly get knocked off their lines and the driver had to go out and reattach the bus to the power line.

We are an importer of solar and wind equipment. We are an exporter of oil. We make money off selling oil, and it's a strategic resource.

I kinda wish he did...

Talking about how much water the oil industry uses and getting those numbers wrong (he said 5:1 water to oil, when it's 3:1 - and he never accounted for it being mostly a closed loop process where that water is recycled), is not relevant to the discussion of cancer rates downstream.

A point worth correcting. The article claims that oil production is leading to expansions of tailing ponds, but that's not actually true. 90% of process water is recycled, and the ponds themselves do have evaporation, so on the whole the production of oil does not increase the size of the ponds.

Then wake up an hour earlier than everyone else and go to bed an hour earlier. That is well within your power. Why do you need a clock to tell you how to live your life?

This shouldn't be bikeshedded. The government just picks a standard. You can work around it however you wish.

Alberta had proportional representation till 1955 when the social credit party (the UCP forefathers) got rid of it because they were slipping in popularity and needed a way to form majority governments with a minority of popular support. . . .

It's rigged by design.

She wants to rig the election. Only question is what we will do to her if she does....

It's that or darkness at 4Pm... We can't actually "save" sunlight. What we can do is pick a time and stick with it to avoid the disruptions in schedules twice a year which lead to predictable and tragic fatalities. We don't need needless stress from changing clocks and bikeshedding this is silly.

The "freedom convoy" account and the generic white blonde lady account both seem to have the same message from russia...

What did she put this nutter in charge of?

That's not just a "red flag". It's a red white and blue flag...

Rural votes for her. Cities don't. She wants to steal the election. What are we going to do about it?

1 day ago 1 0 0 0

It'll never happen cause those saying they want this are just impulse buying and have no clue what it would entail. As soon as it's explained to people, people sour on the idea. Right now we have nearly all the benefits of EU membership with none of the responsibilities and cost. Why would we join?

The Social Credits - The ideological forefathers of the UCP - destroyed proportional representation in Alberta in 1955 to usher in an era of political dynasty. When they can't win they cheat cause they don't think their right to rule comes from the people.

The gerrymanderring and the theft of public funds in the form of favours - and everything else else piling together is more likely to take her down than any one court challenge.

There needs to be a public backlash - including within her own party - and the party likes that she uses the NWC.

Not amended... They are having a judicial review of the interpretation of the clause and whether or not it can be used pre-emptively within legislation. The clause itself is not being amended though, as opening up the constitution like that would require broad approval at a provincial level.

No one should ever settle these lawsuits. Make them take it to court. Make them prove every claim publicly... The backlash is not worth it for them.

Well they are using public property as a means to earn money and expand their business operations. They should pay a hefty fee for that.

Right now im waiting to see what the next step is and where to best lend my skills. Usually I do door knocking and signs when there is a traditional campaign but i dont know whats coming around the next corner which is a bit stressful. I'm ready to do what i must when the time comes.

fair enough.

They need people to do desk or phone work too. Give them a call or email. I am sure they will find a role for you. :)

Maybe join the Forever Canada folks. They are ramping up for a big door knocking campaign ahead of any referendum. They need the help.

And if it comes to it... we might need a critical mass protest to tear the government down - and if that happens there will be no shortage of work that will need to be done.

We are in the early days here. It aint over. Don't comply in advance. You are here to fight for what you believe in.

It's not the government you need to convince. It's the wishy washy apolitical citizens in the province. Talk to people.

They want you to feel helpless so you stop doing the things that will tear this government down. You aren't helpless. Keep talking to people. Join in with knocking or canvassing

Then you are here to help :)

Also I'm not sure that would help get the NDP elected. It also would be seen as meddling in affairs that are not his business, and mildly authoritarian. He shouldn't be endorsing anyone on the provincial level. He's the PM. Provincial politics is not his wheelhouse.
