This is so fucking evil.

Good riddance.
Under Chavez-DeRemer, the Labor Dept hosted a taxpayer-funded “Secretary’s Prayer Service” tied to Trump’s faith centers, featuring Bible readings, hymns, and anti-LGBTQ remarks.
Government offices aren’t for pushing religion.
I laughed out loud
A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief. The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."
The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.
Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.
Just horrifying to watch once excellent universities voluntarily destroying themselves.
Jamal is too nice to say "utter hypocrisy," but that's what this is.
Today's #SCOTUS treats *all* coercive relief against the executive branch as imposing irreparable harm on the government. For that proposition, they cite a 2014 opinion by ... Chief Justice Roberts.
Its absence here is deafening.

My new hopium is checking out gridstatus.io every few days to look at the staggering amount of live energy production for U.S. grids. It's incredible to see solar, particularly on CA and Texas's grid take up the majority of the load by midday, or wind be the majority of the grid in the midwest.
There are many reasons I believe in the separation of Church and State and "you can't disagree with the head of state, that's against theology" is probably the most prominent "absolutely not" scenario.

Hey, I think we found the judicial activism.
The Obama era clean power plan never stood a chance because the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was ideologically opposed to regulating greenhouse gases. This does not bode well for the endangerment finding legal battle currently making its way up to the top court.
Holy moly. Looking forward to sitting down to read this one.
What if I told you it was actually the easiest situation anybody has ever been in?
Remarkable.
Useful reminder from my colleague @zecsaky.bsky.social of how much is at stake for both Hungary & the EU, following Magyar's election victory.

if this dude was born in america he'd be leading every poll to be the next presidential nominee of the dems
I know people bristle at the idea of leftists who police language but a big reason it happens is because, especially as it relates to politicians, the language we choose serves as an entirely accurate predictor of the types of policy decisions we would make & who we would & wouldn’t place value on
Celebrate wins more than you morn losses. That is the rule.
Rod Dreher whines about losing his sugar daddy
Rod Dreher is an American rightwing ideologue who was backed by Viktor Orban’s regime, receiving about $100k per year. Orban was his sugar daddy.
Orban’s autocratic corruption was part of the reason Peter Magyar defeated him. That corruption included using state funds to back the far-right.
Hungary just elected a new PM who wasted zero time — he shut down state propaganda, called out the corrupt officials by name, and started the reckoning on day one. It made me want to write down exactly what that should look like here. So I did.

The index of consumer sentiment isn't broken; models that try to predict it just don't have the right input variables. I fix that and find that, yes, high nominal price levels explain why the vibes are so off. It's the prices, stupid

In a first last month, renewables supplied more power to the U.S. than natural gas, a milestone in the shift to clean energy.
I study racism for a living and can still manage to be shocked by how institutionalized it is. What do you mean they were giving tax-breaks to white supremacists celebrating treason?
just a wild country
Why aren't students protesting?
Fluoride in drinking water has no effect on IQ or brain function, a long-term study shows.
The new research is the first to measure community water fluoridation exposure during childhood and any potential impact on cognition up to age 80.
The results contradict RFK Jr. statements.
Fox mentions of Pres Biden's family conflicts, 16mos period:

Fox mentions Pres Trump family conflicts:
"For Fox News, their word is apparently sufficient. The network’s evening programs have mentioned the Trump family’s myriad Gulf state conflicts just twice since late last year."
I think a bill forcing Elon to pay the damages + interest would be well received.
