Is there any benefit to having people partner with AI for medicine?
New meta-analysis shows human-AI teams improve diagnostic scores by 4.88%, but time efficiency is flat. While models like GPT-4 help, a high 26-36% error rate still remains.

Check out my fantastic OHSU colleague @lisakarstens.bsky.social Human Microbiome short course. Application due soon January 20, 2026 #MedSky
One for my paper with @katefu24.bsky.social using 6 LLMs to show they scored better than 75% of students in my introductory biomedical informatics course. (Figure displayed showing correct answers on the final exam, which is not only easily passed but was completed in about 60 seconds by the LLMs.)
Congrats @jessiet1023.bsky.social!
For those who don't know, they screen hundreds of papers to include in this session, these are THE papers to go back and read for the informatics community. Very cool honor!

As opposed to any other clinician? Just wondering.
Congratulations @billhersh.bsky.social
Well deserved!

#AMIA2025 Symposium has 2,145 people here!
Of 1,977 submissions, overall acceptance rates included:
Panels at 37%,
Regular Papers at 43%,
and Posters at 61%.
A strong presence of student and physician coauthors was called out.
Hello #AMIA2025, so glad to see all 2,145 of you here in Atlanta .
I wanted to give you a guide on how to make the most of the conference here on Bluesky, and hopefully convince you to continue the conversation after you head home.
Here are some tips I want to share in a thread 🧵 1/10
There are many worse things the Trump Administration has done but this one hits close to home for me. One of the things that the US government does very well is create high-quality data sets and tools to use them. It is sad to lose these tremendous resources.

I support you on all this and please text or call me if one of those unmasked (thank you Gavin) idiots even thinks of stopping you.
I was wondering although I’ve been doing every 5 years roughly.
Check out the FAMIA/AMIA Leadership Lounge free webinar Sept 16, 2025 3pm ET. Roosevelt De Los Santos, MD and I are talking with the amazing Murielle Beane, DNP Sr. Vice President and Chief Health Informatics Officer at Trinity Health and a member of the 2022 FAMIA class.

I certainly agree with these points about current and future medical informatics education 🩺🖥️jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticl...
We are working towards a new edition but it the meantime here is Clinical Research Informatics 2023 3rd edition website. New edition will have of course more AI and LLM in the CRI world. www.informaticsetc.info 🩺🖥️
An important step to help frame the discussion for why there is a need for an informatics course is to draw from established definitions, and ACGME is a good starting point.

Very interesting. I’m working on AI clinical use ethics for my bioethics fellowship.
AI use is growing, especially among young and educated Americans, but so is public skepticism. 40% now expect AI to harm society, and trust in its ethics, fairness, and accuracy continues to erode. 🩺💻 #MLSky
