Why we are no longer posting on X

In line with University of Limerick’s ongoing commitment to providing engaging, transparent, diverse and positive communications through our digital channels, the University has conducted a review of its presence on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

Due to the sustained decline in engagement, concern as to the veracity of performance data, the prevalence of automated traffic, an ongoing EU regulatory review, and the increased presence of toxic content, UL will cease posting on the X platform. This decision aligns with our commitment to responsible digital communication and safeguarding our online community as well as our own team members. The University will continue to prioritise social media platforms that provide a safe, engaging, and effective environment to communicate with our audiences, while remaining open to reassessing this decision should the platform’s content moderation practices and user experience significantly improve in future
