💡 Our brilliant JRA, @patrycjazalewska.bsky.social, is working on a fascinating project on how we visualise the self through bodily maps.
She’s run into a funding snag and could really use the community’s help recruiting participants.
If you’re +18 and have a desktop, please consider taking part!
I'm revising my undergraduate module on 'Psychology of Crowd Behaviour', including a new topic on 'Crowds & Leadership'. The new reading list includes the following.

Viktor Orban banned pride events in Hungary, the people took it as a challenge and just had the largest pride march in their country's history.
It’s weird to live in a time when basic principles like cruelty is wrong, cheating is empty & the idea that curiosity, generosity, originality, the satisfaction of earned accomplishments & loving intimacy are the center of a good life feel like countercultural concepts
And last but not least, our stellar @realab.bsky.social PhD student, @meyrajackson.bsky.social, is exploring the fascinating links between PTSD/trauma and substance use with cutting-edge methods! Stay tuned for her upcoming exciting systematic review, pilot study, and conference presentation!
I'm grateful to have received the Elevate Grant and 2nd place Social Impact award at StartUp Sussex, supporting my PhD research and work with families affected by the opioid crisis. These awards offer both funding and encouragement to continue this important work.

What a disgrace. I hope the UK and EU see this tragedy as an opportunity to take the lead because this research could not be more important to us all.
A recent UK survey found that 72% of 14-18 y/o want more relevant and rigorous climate change education. Now, Sussex University is answering that call with a new degree called “Climate Justice, Sustainability and Development.” Classes start in Sept. 2026.

A huge pleasure to repost this announcement - over 40 students have graduated from our fantastic @sussexneuro.bsky.social PhD programme, and each year brings new perspectives and opportunities for both the new joiners and ourselves as their hosts. Do consider applying!
Any recommendations for something for a PhD student (and her supevisor) to read about the research cycle. How exisitng experimental data drives theory development, which in turn drives future expt data collection. Especially from perspective of how review papers and meta analyses contribute. Thanks.
A view through gorse shrubs of Derek Jarman’s Prospect Cottage on Dungeness Beach with its distinctive black cupboard and yellow details on windows and doors. It is a wintry cold day.
Today is World AIDS day, so am remembering so many loved and lost today. So much talent and beauty stopped in its tracks. Thank you for the medical advancements that have changed prognoses for so many.
