God, we need this in London. No more prioritising cars over people.
I don't need your respect. I have the respect of the Mantis Lords.
Having mainly used #Next.js for the last couple of years I took at stab @solidjs.com for a client project and it's like finally leaving a bad relationship and meeting someone who actually makes you happy. #buildinpublic
@bsky.app you gotta up the expiry time on these app permissions. I'm signing in every time I open it!
That is superb news!

I've been using @kagi.com for about a month now and what I love is not suffering the endless attempts to trick me into buying tangentially related tat to my search. How novel! Plus the small web viewer is delightful. I am hoping Orion does come to Linux one day though...
Inspired by another recent post on ATProto I signed up for bsky, but all I see is endless American politics. I relentlessly click "less like this" but it doesn't seem to budge. Is this just what the platform is like? Being constantly barraged by the same predictable takes on today's bizarre overseas controversy is not very conducive to mental peace...
imagine how much more appealing Bluesky could be to people all over the world if it could fix this single problem
I recently unarchived the very first novel I ever wrote and I thought I would publicly shame myself by analysing how terrible it is, starting with the completely unnecessary Prologue. #WritingCommunity

Bluesky needs trending topics by country.
I've become obsessed with SVGs and this guide is the best I've seen explaining how to use the <path> element

That is exactly what I did in the end. I was way overthinking it! The title is absolutely positioned with the same border minus the bottom and it now just hides the section of the content box border so it gives the impression that it's flowing as one.
#CSS #Tailwind experts, I need your help! I'm completely stumped about how to achieve this effect where the 'title' and the main content box share a border.
Do I somehow need to clip the bottom of the title's border to hide it...?

Over the last couple of days I've switched from vscode to @zed.dev and the difference in performance is astounding.
Never again will I have to wait for vscode to do whatever it was doing to save a file.
I've been trying to articulate why the fawning, complimentary responses from AI chatbots feel so insidious to me. I've finally figured out how to explain it.
Wrote a long piece on how current model training and design choices threaten our critical thinking skills: maggieappleton.com/ai-enlighten...
I've built a script to get the day's info from our family Google Calendar, and next is testing, setting up cron jobs, and getting feedback from my son, who is probably never going to look at it, but I've had fun making it!

The e-ink screen is a @pimoroni.com 7.3" Inky Impression display, and it's being powered by a #raspberrypi Zero 2 W.
The toughest part by far was learning Pillow to build the UI. I was considering just using HTML, CSS, and JS, but sticking to Python for everything just makes sense.
A Pimoroni Inky Impression Spectra 7.3" e-paper display shows a vibrant daily schedule with "Montag," "School," "Club," "24ยฐC" weather, "Mama's Birthday today!", "Dinner," and "Bedtime" in colored boxes. A plant in a terracotta pot sits atop the display.
I'm currently building a display for my 5-year-old so he has some clue what's happening.
He often asks what day it is, what's happening, what's for dinner, etc. I'm hoping the display will help give him some agency, as being 5 seems confusing. It'll also trick him into reading...
@bmann.ca once told me "Self hosting is selfish", it struck a nerve and I instantly knew he was right. The priesthood of programmers cannot save the internet with our private gated co-los and suburban home servers.
This is a beautiful synopsis of why: We're still thinking feudal terms.
A panoramic shot captures the iconic Durdle Door, a natural limestone arch, on a shingle beach in Dorset, England. The arch juts out into the calm, blue-green sea, with gentle waves lapping the shore. White cliffs frame the right side of the image, stretching into the distance under a partly cloudy sky. Scattered beachgoers are visible on the shingle beach, and a distant headland is faintly visible on the horizon.
The waves battered and bruised us but it was worth it. | #photography #fotografie #nature
