Ireland's Ancient Animals, for which at least some evidence was found to suggest they once roamed this island, even if only for a while. Some might even make a comeback! Featuring the Irish elk, bear, lynx, great auk, wild boar, & wolf. #SpéirGhorm #SciArt

Cite the deep magic to me, witch. I was there when it was written and I think it’s important to credit our sources.

This damn post has absolutely ruined my brain every time I hear someone mention "for the time being." Major kudos to the poster, if I ever meet you in person I will congratulate you and then punch you in the face.
Unlike procedural programming, probabilistic interpolation only scales in quality by getting larger. So each improved model is LESS efficient.
And those free local models not only need resources/money to train, but the drop in speed, even on a really beefy system (which most consumers don’t have) makes it almost unusable for 99% of people.
All the major players are billions in debt. Not a single LLM based platform is profitable. Even if they somehow make the process faster AND cheaper (which, due to the scaling requirements will be basically impossible), they need to claw those costs back from their user base.
Precisely. This is also how this whole discussion got started!

Genuinely tempted! God, I hate it there…
A screenshot of an AI generated video, in WhatsApp, showing a cat, with thumbs, frying an egg in the shape of a heart
I tweeted something along the lines of “top tip : introduce yourself to people as ‘an entrepreneur’, so that they know you’re an absolute c**t”.
I had a groups of guys (almost all with “entrepreneur” in their bio) get VERY angry with me.

Yep, it’s the same here. My Mum will occasionally add “not sure if this is AI…”. No Mum, that’s a real video of a cat in an apron, frying an egg.

"er, guys?"
I now get sent briefs with 100% AI generated concepts, which the client/agency have TOTALLY fallen in love with (because they made them). They then want me to re-create them INCLUDING the glaring mistakes!? It's madness.
omg the ad worked!? :o
By the looks of things, it's an app that accesses the (free) database of crime statistics in your area and then sells you insurance and security products based on how scared they hope you'll be.
That is awesome!
Weirdly, I watched this exact video with our kids just a couple of months ago!
This is called change blindness, demonstrated by Dan Simons in his amazing gorilla experiment, and then in this classic (which coincidentally was co-produced by me): youtu.be/v3iPrBrGSJM?...
There are people commenting on the post who didn't notice!
And sadly, not weighted heavily enough toward 'people maintaining their corporeal form'
🤯
I don't know! I think maybe because I showed them in the context of "look at how terrible this is!" so they panicked they'd miss some small detail & lasered in on those? Worrying though!
I think I did skew the results by saying "Look at what's wrong with this!" so they all hyper-focused on weird details with the text...etc.
Ok, I think I have accidentally discovered some sort of cognitive/observational test. I have now shown this to ten different people (often playing it twice) and more than half didn’t notice the police officer DISSOLVING into another person at any point…
Lots of issues but at one point A human being DISSOLVES into another person
That is so depressing. I keep coming back to the 2.5 DECADES of relentless notes I have had on commercial artwork/retouching and yet this stuff just gets two thumbs up and out the door...
