Ha! Well quite. I am not in to any variety of Sportsing, but one has to communicate with people in their own language 🎾

It’s finally happened. After 18 months. Finally, a media merger you can root for.

It's usually the other way round I think, we used to use it a lot on a forum I was in a couple of decades ago "play the ball not the player, else you'll get moderated".

Exactly.

"Remember to pee and wash your hands before you go to vote, look me in the eye when you tell me we have to bomb people, and find someone to explain this White Paper about the benefits of renewables and climate change, please."

This photo shows a cluster of gorgeous blue and purple bluebells poking through a wrought iron gate.

I've been really frustrated not to be able to visit our local woods since bluebell season began, but I was thrilled to spot these rogue bluebells popping up in the garden of our new house like a taste of magic...

So Starmer has admitted being a hugely incompetent incoherent easily confuzzled wally rather than a corrupt deliberate liar, and therefore he thinks he should be allowed to keep on Prime Ministering?

I want to go back to this, please. I want someone's mum to be PM and knock everyone's heads together, listen to experts about things they don't know about, be fair and even handed and cut through all the performative stupidity.

I am sick of politics being about playing the player, not the ball.

For the past two years, the final project in my pseudoarchaeology class (ANT2290) was to craft a zine on an archaeological site, that presents both the actual evidence and a fanciful interpretation of it based on pseudoscientific practices covered in class. This year's crop was outstanding!

Government security vetting | Institute for Government How does the UK government's national security vetting system work?

With the Peter Mandelson appointment as UK ambassador to the US back in the headlines, it's worth understanding how the UK government's national security vetting system actually works.

Our explainer sets out the process:

AI footage in the quote post. However it's a real fact, with real footage available (See my link below). Now people who believed it have a false image of how octopus act, and people who recognise it as AI question a real observed scientific fact. Utter bullshit.

If I saw that Hercule Poirot or Benoit Blanc or one of these dudes was a guest at a dinner party I was at, I would immediately excuse myself to use the bathroom and get tf outta that cursed house

Certain doors demand your attention when walking passed them, demand you wonder about what happens beyond them. They generate an intimate, personal folklore, unfold odd stories in your mind. I'd knock upon them, but the sense of mystery is just too valuable. – #MattAdams

The making of END OF A HARD DAY - ink and marker on A3 297 x 420mm paper

This was too much for Instagram's sensibilities so they deleted it. I've hidden it behind a label here for Artistic Nudity. Because there's a willy.

Huge thanks to @flydaddy3838.bsky.social for modelling.

It is possible to think that this whole undignified Mandelson vetting debacle does not reflect well on the PM at all, while also thinking that another leadership contest is literally the last thing anybody needs right now.

We played our teenage daughter out to Baby Shark a couple of years ago. It still makes me smile thinking about it. I want Midnight Train to Georgia, personally.

So many possibilities, but I'd try and walk the Camino from Vezalay to Santiago de Compostela, if my health allowed.

Otherwise, and/or also, make an ideal one acre productive garden a la John Seymour.

Taking Stock is , I think, my favourite of all my novels, probably because there's a bit of self-insert there with Laurie's frustration and anger at his disability. Olivia's lovely review in the NYT helped a great deal, too 😍.

Are you looking for a 1970s historical romance with excellent disability rep?

What about Taking Stock?
