First beer of vacation is a such an elite beer.
Always great to have @dsmithshow.bsky.social on Sports Night.
Got his thoughts on Jose E. Feliciano, Peter Seidler's legacy and the noise around Chelsea.

The Angels saw a bunch of Mason Miller sliders the last two days and it didn't go great for them.
Feliciano and the Friars.

Very notable from @jareddiamond just now with @BenAndWoods - his belief is that Jose E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones will move their philanthropic efforts to San Diego, and plan to invest in the local community.
Pretty curious about Jose E. Feliciano’s relationship with Todd Boehly and the BlueCo guys, and whether there’s some bad blood as he enters the Padres-Dodgers rivalry.
Also, who’s at fault for Chelsea’s issues?

If you could ask Jose E. Feliciano one question what would it be?
Luis Campusano is on an eight game hitting streak since he stopped giving a 🤬.
Jackson Merrill should never pay for another puffer vest in San Diego after tonight.
Rob a home run ✅
Walk it off ✅
Jackson Merrill delivered the win tonight for the Padres.

Jackson Merrill walks it off.
What a win.
This team has that look.
On April 4 Xander Bogaerts had his 4th straight 0-4 game.
He was slashing .125/.152/.156
In the 10 games since he’s had 6 multi-hit games and three HR.
He is slashing .288/.347/.455

Craig Stammen on Tatis Jr.’s two games at second base:
“It’s fun to see him in the infield I know he enjoyed it. We know his home is in right field… he’s proven that he’s an outstanding defender out there. He’s just a versatile athlete and we’ll keep using him in that way.”
Nick Pivetta is on the 15-Day IL
Craig Stammen said Pivetta got an MRI, still going over that and deciding on next steps.
Matt Waldron will take Pivetta’s spot in the rotation for the time being. Still not totally certain on the day he’ll pitch.
Waldron is fully built up.
Matt Waldron is here and he believes he is starting on Friday.
Wrapped up a *mostly* great weekend for the Padres on Sports Night.
@AJCassavell crushed it!
Great stuff on Pivetta's mysterious injury, Tatis, Miller, a lineup that's found its slug and more.

This photo of Xander Bogaerts dodging the Gatorade bath is phenomenal.

Voters are gonna have a heckuva time choosing between Mason Miller and Randy Vasquez for NL Cy Young.
Jason Adam is back in the Padres clubhouse. Still doesn’t know when he’ll be active.
Feels really good, no restrictions - arm and leg feel good.
Said it’s good to know the bullpen can dominate with or without him, just wants to pull his weight.
Padres are lookin' good and playin' good.

Mason Miller in his last 29.1 IP (including playoffs):
▫️0 Runs
▫️63 K
▫️5 Hits
▫️10 BB
He got 11 straight batters to strike out swinging before today's final out. 🔥
He hasn't allowed a hit on his slider since August 26th. 🤯
Complete dominance.
A funny trend I've noticed.
3/31: "Why isn't Laureano in the lineup?"
4/1: 2 H, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R
4/4: "Why isn't Merrill in the lineup?"
4/5: 3 H, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R
4/7: "Why isn't Castellanos in the lineup"
4/8: 2-Run 2B, R, BB
Manny is a candidate to continue the trend Thursday.
He's 1-10 there so far. Basically a kiss of death for whoever's there.
Going into the day the Padres had the lowest wRC+ from the leadoff spot in MLB.
6 (!!!) and as you probably know 100 is average. Six!
Ramon Laureano went 0-4 today. He is 1-14 after three games hitting leadoff.
Padres No. 1 hitters are 5-45 with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts.
Padres hitters trying to figure out Paul Skenes.
At some point, probably soon, Fernando Tatis Jr. will hit a homer.
It's taking longer than usual, now 10 games into the season without one.
In each of his first six seasons Tatis had a HR by his 5th game.
2025: 2nd
2024: 4th (2 HR Game)
2023: 3rd
2021: 4th
2020: 5th
2019: 5th
