Glyphosate harms nature & people
Yet, now it is spring, many councils spray it in public places
There are other, much less harmful approaches to controlling βweedsβ (see the link below)
Or even let the weeds blossom to support biodiversity!

Line chart showing atmospheric COβ concentration at Mauna Loa Observatory from 1958 to 2024. A light blue sawtooth line shows raw monthly values, reflecting the seasonal cycle of plant growth. A dark blue smooth line shows the seasonally adjusted record, rising from 315 ppm in 1958 to over 426 ppm in 2024. A dashed red curve shows the super-exponential fit, with the instantaneous growth rate rising from 0.27%/yr in 1960 to 0.64%/yr in 2024, more than doubling over the period of the record.
1/ Why is atmospheric COβ accelerating faster than fossil fuel emissions are growing?
The answer is buried in the data, and it's more worrying than most people realise.
A thread. π§΅π
A huge betrayal.
Won't lower bills. Won't give us more energy security. Won't insulate from price shocks.
And sends a clear message to the world that we are backing new oil and gas drilling.

They were stones I'd gathered on a previous date and washed. We could either whisper our wish to them or say them out loud as we threw them in the river - personal choice. Then a moment's silence as we watched the ripples spread. You could chalk your wish onto the pebble π

No need to have read them, this is about shared learning, critical thinking, and building community and growing something bigger - book swaps, idea sharing and meaningful conversation.
Forests aren't just stores of carbon - by regulating local temperatures and hydrology, they help us adapt to climate change too
Which makes it all the more devastating that they're so vulnerable to climate change
Britain's very wet winters are happening much sooner than climate models suggested they would
Meaning that decarbonisation and adaptation are much more urgent than we thought they were... and we already knew it this is an emergency
