A truly great series.

I watched Survivor from season 1 until mid-43 when I got bored of the show, after it was my favorite show for years. I'm going back to Season 41, and... the first episode is rough.

Today's book rec: "takes elements of familiar story lines -- a deal with the Devil, aliens living among us, and the all-too-real struggles of a young trans woman -- and combines them into something completely new, jarring, unexpected and beautiful." This is the kind of reporting we need on the judiciary. Treating it like the other branches of government.

I really can't shake that DoorDash-to-the-Oval stunt yesterday. DoorDash represents everything that has gone wrong in the American economy and labor market. It should never be celebrated by a president as a success. It's a glaring problem looking to the Oval Office for solutions, not attaboys.

"Jews promote race-mixing among everyone else, to undermine the white race, while protecting their own racial purity" is a quite longtime fascist view about the Jews. It's literally part of Nazi ideology.

It's not just that Orbán losing inspires hope in other competitive-autocratic countries ruled by right-wing nationalist authoritarians. It's that his loss materially changes things in those other countries, because he's been operating as a headquarters and funding source...

It is incredible how much of a disservice NBC/Peacock do to cycling fans with the truly horrible coverage.

Periodic reminder: D.C. remains patrolled all over the city by armed members of the National Guard deployed to do so by President Trump.

you do not have to hand it to tucker carlson or marjorie taylor greene or alex jones or megyn kelly. they're all rats who see trump as a sinking ship and they're getting ready to jump in preparation for their next act. you do not have to fall for it.

Donald Trump is deranged. He must be impeached and removed from office.

Republicans who don’t stop him will have blood on their hands, and anyone who carries out an order to bomb civilian targets will be complicit in war crimes and will be held accountable.

WNBA Players Had an Ace Up Their Sleeve in Pay Negotiations: A Nobel Laureate Harvard economist Claudia Goldin helped WNBA players win a nearly 400% raise. Starting this season, players’ average salary will top $580,000.

After Claudia Goldin became the first woman to win a solo Nobel in economics, she got hundreds of invitations.

She accepted three.

One was advising WNBA players on a labor deal. She helped players land the biggest % raise in US sports history.

the average business traveler has never encountered an ICE agent in the flesh. if anyone in the administration had half the sense god gave a goat, they’d be desperate to keep it that way.

“But it is to say that in our efforts to create a safer American environment for Jews, we must reckon with the ways in which our community may have inadvertently helped make it easier for these ideas to spread.

At the same time that concerns among Americans about Israel’s conduct toward Palestinians have soared, space in which to rationally discuss those concerns has shrunk. When a student can face the threat of deportation for writing a pro-Palestinian op-ed; when American Jewish institutions suggest that merely considering the possibility that Israel’s actions in Gaza could be called genocidal is antisemitic; when universities are taken to court for allowing pro-Palestinian protests, public debate is stifled.

And so instead of debate, we have declarations in spaces that are less beholden to civic norms. That is to say, among extremists.”

I think some on this website and in general are confused. Anti-Zionism is not antisemitism. I have written I do not know how many pieces saying this. Also, if you are using anti-Zionism as an opportunity to say hateful things about Jews qua Jews, you are, I am sorry to say, being antisemitic.

Tweet from the American Jewish Committee: "Mayor Mamdani’s repeated use of the “genocide” accusation against Israel is not just wrong - it’s dangerous. It distorts reality and fuels antisemitism at a moment when Jews are already under threat.

Leaders who claim to stand for human rights should not use rhetoric that puts Jewish communities at risk."

There is a lot of real and rising antisemitism in the US today. Which makes the position of the AJC that it is inherently antisemitic to accuse Israel of genocide - when the leading Israeli human rights groups B'Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights agree - both dangerous and counterproductive.
