For godssakes, you Youtube journos, stop teasing us with headlines claiming Trmp has 1 week to live, or his term is about to be cancelled, or impeachment is imminent. If you keep dashing my hopes, day after day, I’m going to start watching Fox News.

Here is a rave review for my novel, Still Life of a Salesman. Thank you CanReads.

After being continually disappointed by America for 10 years, I am not remotely optimistic that they will ‘do a Hungary’ in ’26 or ’28. I’m sorry to say they just don’t have it in them. (My opinion only, and I’m entitled to it.)
Please, Mr Trpmnp, learn Spanish, move to Venezuela and run for President there. Please please. I'm not even American, and I think it’s a great idea, one of your best. Ask Mel to dig out your Air Miles card. Go ahead. Ask her. Right now, while you wait for your Uber Eats.
Continuing to talk about impeaching TRmp is like continuing to demand the sun rise in the west.
Using AI to write your novel is like signing up for the Boston Marathon and showing up on your electric bicycle, and wondering why everyone is side-eying you.
How is it possible that the Iranian government is more literate in English than the US President and his entire cabinet? Fascinating...
Also easy. But it takes longer.
It’s a mystery to me.
I’m pretty sure I’m not in the E files. In case you were wondering. I don’t have any rich friends.
Sorry, I've been saving these musings over the weekend. I’ll stop now.
Winter is best enjoyed indoors.
Writing is easy. Selling is hard.
Even if AB could separate, which they can’t, the US would support them by making them a US territory, not a US state. So, no federal vote, and no control over their resources. The US will not permit AB to be a sovereign nation, period. Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in a dream world.
One at bedside, one in the bathroom.
I could use some of that slang now that I live in NL.
I know Salman Rushdie is most famous for 'Midnight's Children' and 'Satanic Verses', but I think his best books are 'The Moor’s Last Sigh' and 'Haroun and the Sea of Stories'. I’m quite fond of Indian writers in general.

When editing, I start at the beginning and edit to the end. Back to the start, etc. There’s no timing goal. I have several methods of reading, from very fast (the Italian), to very slow (the Jamaican). Once I get to the pushing-the-commas-around bit, I’m close to the end. But no pressure.
I’ll quickly jot down the first sentence or paragraph or page (if I have time), so when I get to it properly, I can hit the ground running. This method assumes you have a few minutes to do this jotting, but I often did, even at work.
Booboo gives me the evil eye when I look at my phone.
Olympic snowboarding and women’s hockey! I’m into that.
Last time I took a draw, I tipped over.
My father curled. Mainly as an excuse to drink afterwards, I gather. He particularly enjoyed the bonspiel. My favourite part of curling is to say the word bonspiel.
I think it would actually be fun to play, just not so fun (for me) to watch.
I know I said I watch the Olympics, but…curling? Right up there with olympic carpet cleaning, I’m sorry to say. No offence to curlers and their fans.
Literary fiction, but with a wry humour.
The only time I watch televised sports is during the Olympics. So I won’t be so productive for the next couple of weeks.
I’m pretty sure I’m the only adult in the western hemisphere who hasn’t read To Kill a Mockingbird. I have no excuse, frankly, and I’m running out of years. I hear it’s good.
I start and end with no plan. There is a spark for the opening scene, then characters enter and introduce themselves. Things happen. It’s much like reading for me, waiting to see what happens next. I can’t imagine what kind of book I’d write if I planned it. Kudos to those who can.
Yes, politics and religion are two topics that regularly mince through my stories, waving jazz hands at me. I can’t help it.
