San Diego FC are setting risky new records in an eye-catching MLS debut No team in the world relies on buildup quite like the newly-formed group of ‘30 strangers’ with teenagers in key positions

If you loved Sarri's Napoli or De Zerbi's Brighton, you should be watching Mikey Varas's San Diego.

I wrote for the Guardian about the risky press-baiting style that makes MLS's newest team its most tactically interesting, statistically extreme and just plain fun.

Ederson seemed kind of frozen in shock when it rebounded off him. Really odd reaction. Almost traumatised.
I feel like his brain is half in Saudi Arabia this year. He was pretty close to a move I think.

Recent column on the president of FIFA, the president of the USA, and an administration not fit to welcome the world [cup] in 2026. Things have further deteriorated in the short time since I wrote this, and the US has made threats to both co-hosts. morningstaronline.co.uk/article/foot...

Valley Parade, Bradford

A football ground very much at the heart of the local community, nestled as it is amid the rows of terraced housing.

It feels a lot of fans still aren’t appreciating game volume and our injuries. Yesterday was our eighth game in 25 days; it was Wolves fourth. And, #Arsenal have six key players out injured, with three players only just returning. It’s about digging deep, not entertaining. #AFC

#Arsenal fans are buying into the gaslighting at every juncture. Mikel Arteta did not blame the match ball; he did not even bring it up. He was asked specifically about it and said it was different but you have to adapt. Shameless gutter press. #AFC

You can aim higher than that!
But anyway fair enough. I just don't like these cheap shots being taken that are not really true just to get engagement.
Kind of left Twitter because if that but hey ho :)

Yeah this is a worryingly disingenous article.
I've watched the full interview and he was just answering a question about why they might have missed the target so much. Just a casual answer trying to give some possible context. Repeatedly refused to make excuses, despite bait from reporters.

This is great. I usually try and manage the worst conference north/south team I can find in FM.
But sometimes I hit a bit of a wall when we eventually promote and are facing more professional teams.
Had a good save with Scarborough, but got a bit burnt out by this.

Turning professional on Football Manager Football Manager isn't just about the elite teams. Many FMers like to take a part-time team in a lesser-known league and gradually build them up into a dominant force at domestic and continental level. A lot of us also like to take a provincial club from the lower leagues and take them up to the top flight. That's what I'm doing right now on my Football Manager 2024 save with Nacka FC.

NEW #FM24 BLOG POST!

Here's my guide on how to turn your club professional on FM - and how to build your team after going full-time.

A fantastic FIFA ‘94 style image of Ryan Giggs scoring against Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final, 1999.

I just watched the full interview and he's simply answering a question about 'what he can help players with to finish their chances?' and casually says the players hit the ball over the bar and they have to adapt to that.
Performance was OK just bad finishing, don't get blinded by tribal agendas.

I mean he could have just been talking generally about an aspect of the game, which he is entitled to do. He doesn't usually make excuses IMO.
Is this fully in context or just to get some negative engagement? I guess you don't care, but I like to have context.
Have you watched full press conference?

Yeah they are just rotating the same 13-14 players each game at the moment so a bit hard to say. Not going to play the youth team etc of course.
Probably Merino and Califiori and Jesus start in the 'best 11', but didn't last night. At the moment it's all much of a muchness really as no depth.

They battled hard, but were fairly lucky in the end.
Arsenal understandably were at about 75% after so many games this week and illness and still controlled the game.
And people try and hype it up but Arsenal players in their heart of hearts don't prioritise this cup. For Newcastle it's massive.

Very sad to see The Athletic become just another trolling media outlet. Seeing them do it more and more. No more subscriptions for me.

After a very hard work during Christmas, one of the new great features of Euro Futbol is almost finished. "Decisions" allows to perform different actions (sometimes not very morally-correct) to gain some on-off/time-limited advantages.

Wow. Yes they made a deal with the devil…. But so often in football that’s weirdly fine.
