The missing piece of this viral post is that the Texas officials are lying and deflecting blame. The NWS, hobbled as it is, issued an accurate flood watch for Kerr County the evening before and accurate escalating warnings overnight as the flood was developing.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott post that quotes a post from Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson. Abbott: "Dallas is the first self-declared "Sanctuary City from Socialism." The State of Texas will provide whatever support is needed to fulfill that mission." Johnson: If your city is (or is about to be) a sanctuary for criminals, mayhem, job-killing regulations, and failed socialist experiments, I have a modest invitation for you: MOVE TO DALLAS.

The roads in Dallas are crumbling, the educational outcomes are bad, the inequality is high, the poverty rate is higher than the national average, and significant racial segregation persists. But yes, let's talk about how it's a place that's safe from failed socialist experiments.

When you look at the final vote count don't forget that 3 old-ass Democrat representatives died in this term (one of whom had fucking throat cancer!) because they were too arrogant to retire.

When the previous record was 8 hours and 32 minutes and Jeffries chooses to speak for just 12 minutes longer when he could have gone for as long as he physically could stand, it's clear that he just wanted his name in a nice little headline.
