Let’s settle this, is Nigel Farage a racist?

Like if he is.
RT if he is a traitor.

We lost one of ours just before the pandemic lockdowns. She collapsed in the morning and was dead in the afternoon. No idea why. It still hurts how quickly she was taken from us. Sending love. ❤️

Don't feed CoPilot after midnight, and don't let it get wet.

I'm going to troll my next departmental Teams meeting (ugh!) by just posting this screenshot every time someone mentions CoPilot.

I'm at the age now when I would back one of these little shits into a corner and start the spittle-flecked, finger-wagging tirade with "now listen here, sonny, I know a thing or two about existential dread, and lemme tell ya..."

Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM

Trade union activist for a large chunk of my working life, chose public service (education) over private industry to try to make the world a better place and now teach computing at University level. Ask not what tech does, but who it does it to, and who it does it for (h/t Cory Doctorow).

Rev. Jesse Jackson's "I *am* somebody..." remains one of the all-time great pieces of 20th century rhetoric / agitprop

And he could deliver it at a Black separatist meeting, the Democratic National Convention, or on god-blessed Sesame Street (see below 🥹)

RIP to the Voice of the Voiceless

Instead of fines for anti social behaviour, coppers should be able to mete out on the spot beatings that they post to social media as a deterrent. Just like the old days, but better!

10 years for me. I'm kind of an early adopter at quitting things on principle. Some might say I'm cutting off my nose to spite my face, but I'd rather be noseless than give my cash and attention to some people/orgs. Eventually people stop mocking and wise up.

In the UK they put a stop to that by putting little barcodes on the stamps. Now when they raise the price, all your old stamps are obsolete. The post office used to be publicly owned. Ain't privatisation great...

I'm glad at least one person here is saying this. I'm so tired of this "tax and spend" nonsense, the big lie that got us into the place where we can't have decent public services because "the country can't afford it".

"something must be done. This is something, let's do it". Not serious people.

A Blue Peter badge I got for sending in a painting of a dinosaur I did when I was 6. It was probably better than he could manage as a 79 year old.

for every macroscopic event you observe, somewhere on the order of 10^999 bajillion universes are spun up; universes that branch at a similar rate, each one full of suffering beings. the only ethical thing to do is to as quickly and thoroughly as possible diminish your capacity to observe events

Eyes on the hunger strikers, please. I know there’s a lot going on. But this is happening in the UK right now.

Sitting outside a pub on Hull Marina, and Mike Reed (ex Radio 1 DJ, not Frank Butcher from EastEnders) stood near us obviously looking to be recognised. He was wearing very short shorts. We looked him up and down and just said "evening". He looked crushed.

Having been through suicidal ideation (was once scared to drive alone in case I drove intentionally into a motorway bridge), I can't imagine how talking to a machine that encourages suicide would have helped. I'd probably be dead now.

Huge rain here today but that doesn’t stop these 2.

Stormzy was told he had to be put to sleep 2 months ago with his brain damage and Big Red was shot 5 times.

Would you just look at them now. That’s the joy of being alive❤️

A bit like "Fair Weather Cyclists", these people are "Sunday Christians". 2 hours on a Sunday morning, then back to being hateful bastards.

X is representative of the US now. Sorry for those who didn't vote for the orange turd, but we need to distance ourselves from everything US.

My Mum shared this AI slop with me yesterday. She thought it was a lovely depiction of Hull. I told her it was AI slop, and pointed out how I could tell (the white box van merging into the back of a truck at 00:40 e.g.). She hadn't noticed. The company is called INIT Creative. 🙄

Discovering computer as an adult makes you go crazy. Discovering computer as a baby makes you go crazy. In all of human history, there will only ever be one generation to discover computer at the correct age: 13

The problem with every post-Millennial generation is they got to go straight to high speed internet. Of course you'll get computer madness that way. Make them start with those old screeching modems and work their way up
