Israel’s War in Lebanon Has Not Stopped Since the U.S. and Iran agreed to a temporary ceasefire, on Tuesday night, Israel has continued to pummel Lebanon with air strikes, killing more than 300 people. What is the endgame?

There’s a sense that Israel is doing “a deliberate ethnic cleansing” in southern Lebanon, a regional expert says. www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a...

Never gotten over how Columbia had a whole micro-site paying tribute to its 60s protests and building takeovers; then, when Gaza protesters repeated that strategy they called in the NYPD

The obvious answer here is that the student protest movement was broadly smeared as anti-semitic and aligned with terrorists, and a variety of institutions from government, media and the universities acted as if that smear was true, threatening, suspending, expelling and even deporting students.

It is hard to crack me to my "I'm not mad, actually" core, but: this kinda shit does it. I've written/edited/reviewed/updated dozens of cannabis regulations related to the tiniest hint of "attractive to children" packaging or advertising or color schemes or shape of edibles. But booze keeps boozin'

So the NYT is so committed to shitting on trans people that when the AMA tried to correct their reporting, they responded by saying they know more about the AMA's position than the AMA itself. That's zealotry.

The Ghosts of Al-Shifa Hospital Months into a supposed ceasefire in Gaza, doctors still have to smuggle in basic medical supplies—and treat new casualties of war.

I’ve been a journalist for 27 years. I’ve reported major stories about mass surveillance, torture, war, the military-industrial complex, police black sites, etc.

But this is the most important story I’ve ever had the horror/honor to work on. For it is a story about the current phase of a genocide.

There are so many talented, curious, hardworking people who want to be journalists and can’t be, and it really puzzles me that so many of the very few remaining jobs in this industry go to people who seem completely averse to actually writing and reporting.

In recent days, AMA communications to the New York Times have requested a correction on their part to reflect the actual language the AMA used in response to their inquiry. Additionally, a letter to the editor has been submitted requesting a public correction—this was neither a policy change nor was it an endorsement of a position taken by another medical society. In addition, during Congressional testimony in mid-March, I had the opportunity to set the record straight stating to the Subcommittee on Health of the House Energy and Commerce Committee that there has been no change in AMA policy with respect to access to and provision of gender-affirming care. This will appear in the Congressional Record.

Mamdani Chooses His Words Carefully After Alleged Terror Attack

One day the NYT's editors will read these stories again and be ashamed of themselves. Mamdani called the attack "heinous," "criminal," "reprehensible," "terrorism," and "the antithesis of who we are." The insinuation that he's conflicted about this is disgraceful. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/09/n...

All I can think about is Jeff Bezos saying that he slashed jobs at the Washington Post — including those of foreign correspondents in the Middle East — based on "the data," and a few weeks later a whole war breaks out in the Middle East that these laid off folks would have covered as true experts.

An image of an official announcement from Columbia University in the City of New York, dated February 26, 2026. The letter is signed by Claire Shipman, Acting President.
The text states that at 6:30 a.m. that morning, Department of Homeland Security agents entered a Columbia Residential building and detained a student, allegedly using misrepresentations about searching for a "missing person" to gain entry.
The announcement reiterates university policy that law enforcement must have a judicial warrant or subpoena to access non-public areas, noting that an administrative warrant is insufficient. It instructs community members to ask agents to wait and to contact Public Safety if they seek entry to such areas. The university notes it is working to gather details, reach the student's family, and provide legal support.
