Yeah, I've come a long way in all these years.

I had some self esteem issues so I talked to all my readers as if they were organizing a witch hunt in private. If I got a compliment I would respond by putting myself down. I started chapters with accusations over bullying that wasn't happening.
But worst of all, I put down other ships unprompted.

Oh man, my TMNT phase was like 15 years ago....

My fandom etiquette was so bad and I was so obnoxious, how the hell did I have friends???

My block list doubled over this one post due to beta reader bots.

I want to make fun of them. I want to string them along. I wanna see them beg to read my Sonic the Hedgehog pornography

The fandom I was in at the time was toxic like that. I spent a lot of time feeling I was wasting my time making AUs, and hating myself for not being good enough at art for an original idea to matter.

I don't actually see it much in the Sonic fandom, but I haven't gotten over the paranoia.

Mom says it's my turn to use the "Heart Drive" trope.

The big twist for Popcorn is not a new, fresh idea, or even a fresh take on an old idea, and yet when I see another fic leaning in the same direction I start to panic, like only one person is allowed to use a trope at a time.

It's a side effect of hanging around groups that obsess over that kind of thing. I know, deep down, we all crave the same stories written in 1000 different ways, but I can't get over feeling like it's somehow unforgivable to share the same idea as someone else.

One of my biggest fears with reading other fanfiction in the fandom I am writing for, is seeing similar ideas to my already long planned fic.

My ideas are far from original, but I get scared that if I read and comment on something and then use a similar concept shortly after, I'll be called out.

I was so worried that my time off of Popcorn would make people forget about it and move on, possibly feeling let down and betrayed, but everyone has been so nice about it T.T I am so blessed that this fandom has such a kind fanfic community!

chasing perfection

A Sonic character's ability to breathe is directly proportionate to how cool they at a given moment. Space is really fricken' cool, so they have no issues up there. Being sad and wet is uncool, so they drown.

Both of Sonic’s hands slid up to squeeze Shadow’s, and he was a little surprised to get a small squeeze back, as though he rival had been reading his mind and offering him assurance. It was making him blush. Gross. Shadow surely felt his small smile too. Too sentimental, if Sonic didn’t pick up the pace they were going to end up being proud homeowners with 2.5 kids and a pet chao. A poorly handwritten “Live, Laugh, Learn” picture hanging over the bed. Shadow out in an apron making hamburgers on the barbecue. Sonic suddenly burst out laughing, spraying Shadow with spit as their kiss was suddenly broken. “Sorry, sorry… I just…” Sonic wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, “… Had the dumbest thought.”

I am still so amazed and surprised that people liked it so much, I was really worried that people wouldn't like me messing with the formula!

Depending on when you started reading, that tag might not have been there! I think I've used three different ending tags over the course of Popcorn, starting with "ambiguous/open ending". I changed it to "bittersweet ending" when I gave Silver a more active role in the fic.
