New to macOS 26.4, the menu extra for the Passwords app shares its unlock state with the full app. So if you use Touch ID or your Mac password to unlock the menu extra and then go to add a new password or open an item in the full app, you won't have to authenticate again to unlock the app.

If you screw up a sentence but everyone still understands what you mean, you didn't screw up at all and it's the rules that are wrong actually

I’ve always deeply appreciated the insights both of you bring. I hope you’ve been enjoying the retired life :)

“I will NOT sacrifice the Oxford comma. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They assimilate the em dash and we fall back. They capture ‘not just X but y’ and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!”

Honestly, I don't really care if Blue Sky or any other service is seeing a drop individually. The context I want to know is whether it's folks migrating to elsewhere or if it's folks just getting fed up with social media in general. (I suspect it's the latter.)

If I wanted to be in VR at all I'd simply use the well established community things instead. Bonus: you can be a bunny. 🐰

If you use GitHub (especially if you pay for it!!) consider doing this *immediately*

Settings -> Privacy -> Disallow GitHub to train their models on your code.

GitHub opted *everyone* into training. No matter if you pay for the service (like I do). WTH

Writing Formats Last week I talked about technical writing as a role, and I figured I’d run with that theme for a minute. One of the things I mentioned was that we tend to write in other formats, and I wante…

New post. Debating whether I want to hook up auto-publishing here, or just do it when I feel like it it/remember.

When I was 11 I won a design an ad contest where the prize was $50, I was so pumped to buy some sick Legos until I found out it wasn't cash it was a Patriot Bond I'd have to wait decades to be able to use. I'm pleased to report I cashed it today and immediately went and bought some sick ass Legos

The real theme of the modern age is "Nobody Wants This". AI, ICE in airports, ICE in general, the Iran War, data centers sending actual cities wiht people into blackouts -- "nobody" wants this. And yet here we are.

Was coming here to say the same. Feels like one that would’ve been iconic, like one that’d get its own poster release two years later.

not afraid my writing will ever be mistaken for ai because it's deeply unreasonable, my grammar looks like a truck driven by blind and deaf language anarchists crashed into a store selling only keyboards and bottled ink, I am a traitor to my education, the written word, perhaps even art itself

I think it is important we keep reminding people that once you could search an internet by keywords, adding keywords to get more precise results. Those search results were not sponsored or optimised.

You could find things. So many things.

It was a wide open world.

‘Hey’ came before ‘hi,’ and ‘hi' came before ‘hello.’

‘Hi’ is most likely a variant of ‘hey.’

‘Hello’ is not related to either.

Goodbye.

It’s 1979. Visicalc and BASIC mean we don't need programmers any more.

It’s 2010. Web 2.0 APIs and NoCode tools mean we don't need programmers any more.

It's 2026. Claude Code and Agentic coding means we don't need programmers any more.
